Description:
- 15- 25 years of experience with significant exposure to airline or aviation technology environments
- Prior experience in airline IT, airport systems, or aviation technology vendors strongly preferred
- Will manage end-to-end ownership of airline technology platforms, ensuring safe, reliable, secure, and scalable operations across flight operations, passenger services, airport systems, revenue platforms, and corporate IT.
- The role works in a matrix reporting structure, aligning technology strategy, architecture, security, and long-term digital direction with the Group Chief Digital Officer, while being operationally accountable to the CEO r for day-to-day airline technology performance in a 247, mission-critical environment
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Technology Leadership:
- Define and execute Star Airs airline technology strategy aligned to business growth, fleet expansion, network plans, and regulatory requirements
- Act as the primary technology advisor to the CEO Star Air and the Star Air leadership team (Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Safety)
- Ensure alignment with group-level technology standards, security frameworks, and digital roadmap under the Group CDO
Airline Core Systems Ownership (Critical):
- Own and operate airline core platforms, including but not limited to:
- Passenger Service System (PSS)
- Departure Control System (DCS)
- Reservations, inventory, and ticketing systems
- Revenue Accounting
- Flight Operations / Operations Control Centre (OCC) systems
- Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) systems
- Lead large-scale system migrations, upgrades, cutovers, and parallel runs in live airline environments
- Ensure data accuracy, system integrity, and zero-disruption cutovers during critical transitions
Airport, Network & Infrastructure Operations:
- Own airport IT environments including check-in counters, kiosks, boarding gates, and station-level systems
- Design and maintain high-availability network architectures (MPLS / SD-WAN / redundant links) across all operating stations
- Ensure 99.9%+ uptime for mission-critical systems with robust failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity mechanisms
Digital Transformation & Passenger Experience:
- Drive airline-specific digital initiatives across:
- Website and mobile booking journeys
- API integrations with OTAs, payment gateways, and partner systems
- Digital self-service, automation, and operational efficiency at airports
- Improve passenger experience while reducing call centre dependency through AI-driven automation and chatbots
Cybersecurity, Risk & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure a strong cybersecurity posture across airline systems, airports, endpoints, and vendor environments
- Maintain compliance with DGCA, ICAO, aviation audits, and internal governance standards
- Lead incident response for cybersecurity, data protection, and operational technology risks
Program, Vendor & Budget Management:
- Own end-to-end program and project management for complex airline initiatives involving multiple vendors
- Manage IT budgets, cost controls, vendor contracts, SLAs, and commercial negotiations
- Drive accountability across PSS, DCS, infrastructure, application, and support vendors
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment:
- Build and lead a high-performing airline technology organization
- Mentor technology leaders and ensure strong succession planning
- Work closely with Operations, Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Safety, and Airport teams to ensure effective technology adoption
