Role Overview:
The Head of Fundraising is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for aggressively driving the organization's financial growth. We are seeking a high-energy, assertive, and innovative leader with a proven track record of significant revenue generation. The ideal candidate should have strong sales experience and a relentless focus on results. This individual will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO, and will be tasked with building a scalable, structured, and predictable fundraising operation that ensures the organization's long- term financial health. The role requires an expertise of donor engagement and relationship management, with a sharp focus on systematic lead generation and conversion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy & Sustainable Growth:
- Design and lead a dynamic, systematic fundraising strategy with a focus on building a sustainable donor ecosystem.
- Proactively develop a diversified funding portfolio, identifying and securing support from high-net-worth individuals, institutional funders, and corporate partners.
- Architect and implement a comprehensive lead generation framework to ensure a continuous and robust pipeline of new funding opportunities. This includes establishing processes for prospect research, qualification, and initial outreach.
- Establish and oversee a performance-driven fundraising mechanism, transitioning the organization from ad-hoc activities to a process-oriented, results-focused operation.
- Pioneer new channels for fundraising, including digital campaigns, cause-marketing partnerships, and strategic events that capture public imagination.
2. Donor Engagement & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for all high-value donors, developing and executing tailored engagement plans for each.
- Aggressively identify, research, and cultivate a pipeline of new funding opportunities.
- Create compelling, data-backed cases for support and personalized proposals that resonate with donor interests and motivations.
- Oversee the entire donor lifecycle, from initial outreach to personalized stewardship, ensuring an exceptional and consistent experience that maximizes long-term retention.
- Develop and manage a calendar of donor engagement activities, including exclusive briefings, site visits, and personalized communication.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing fundraising team with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
- Implement a rigorous performance management framework with clear KPIs to track progress and ensure accountability.
- Oversee the effective use of a donor management system (CRM) to ensure data integrity and inform strategic decisions.
- Manage departmental budgets and income projections, demonstrating strong financial acumen and transparency.
Executive Support & Visibility:
- Proactively identify and secure speaking engagements, conferences, and high-profile networking events for the CEO.
- Create a structured process for preparing the CEO for these engagements, including briefing documents, talking points, and follow-up strategies.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external partners and event organizers 5. Digital Presence & Outreach
- Take ownership of the organization's website as a key fundraising tool, ensuring it is optimized for donor conversion, lead capture, and showcasing impact.
- Develop and execute the social media strategy specifically for fundraising purposes, focusing on engaging potential donors, sharing impact stories, and driving online giving campaigns.
- Oversee the organization's Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy to increase organic visibility, attract new audiences, and drive traffic to the website for lead generation.
- Analyse website and social media data to inform and refine fundraising efforts. Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, demonstrating a track record of driving revenue growth.
- Significant experience in a sales or business development role is highly desired. Experience in the NGO sector is not essential, but a passion for our mission is.
- Demonstrated success in scaling business functions and implementing systematic, process-driven operations.
- Exceptional networking, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills with a passion for building deep, lasting connections.
- A proven track record of securing significant gifts or closing large deals from a diverse range of sources.
