Sahaj Pharma - General Manager - Research & Development - Agrochemical Synthesis Vertical Function

About the Role:

- We are seeking an accomplished and visionary General Manager - R&D to lead and strengthen our agrochemical synthesis research function. This is a senior leadership role for a seasoned scientist who brings deep technical expertise in chemical synthesis, strong people leadership, and a passion for translating research into scalable, commercially viable products.

- You will be responsible for shaping the R&D strategy, building robust research pipelines, and driving innovation that supports business growth and long-term competitiveness.

- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the R&D (Synthesis) team within the agrochemical domain.

- Define and execute the R&D roadmap aligned with business goals and market needs.

- Lead the design, development, and optimization of new active ingredients, intermediates, and process technologies.

- Oversee laboratory, pilot-scale, and technology transfer activities to manufacturing.

- Drive continuous improvement in yield, cost, safety, quality, and scalability of processes.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.

- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing scientific teams.

- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Business Development teams.

- Stay abreast of global trends, patents, and emerging technologies in agrochemical synthesis.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- PhD in Organic Chemistry / Chemical Sciences or related discipline (full-time, minimum 60% throughout).

- 18+ years of progressive experience in R&D within agrochemical synthesis industries.

- Proven experience in leading large R&D teams and complex projects.

- Strong track record of successfully taking molecules/processes from lab to commercialization.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.

- Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.

- Business-oriented mindset with a focus on innovation and impact.
