Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Buy-side Associate to join our team, focusing on investment evaluation in companies and PE funds. The role involves investment evaluation, analyzing fund performance, conducting quantitative & qualitative assessments, sector research & analysis and preparing high-quality investment memos for investment committee purposes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investment research, financial modeling, valuation, and strategic financial advisory, along with the ability to lead projects, drive initiatives independently, and deliver actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive quantitative & qualitative analysis on PE/VC funds including parent analysis, MOIC distribution, IRR, and other relevant metrics
- Research and analyse PE/VC funds based on past track record and categorise and profile the funds based on set parameters and doing competitive analysis
- Conduct detailed industry or sector research
- Prepare high quality detailed investment memos for investment committee to support the decision making process
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations, delivering insights, and presenting findings
- Collaborate with investment bankers, consultants, and senior stakeholders on M&A, fundraising, and other strategic transactions
- Develop and supervise financial models, valuation reports, industry research, and due diligence assessments using DCF, Comparable Company Analysis, and Precedent Transaction Analysis methodologies
- Manage the preparation of investor presentations, pitch decks, information memorandums, and other strategic financial materials
- Take end-to-end ownership of multiple projects, ensuring timely execution, quality, and alignment with business goals
- Provide mentorship to junior analysts, supporting their growth in research, modelling, and reporting
- Establish and enhance best practices for financial documentation, workflow optimization, and reporting standards
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, professional standards, and maintain strict confidentiality protocols
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in preparing investment memos, analyzing deals, conducting financial analysis, and performing valuations, preferably in Private Equity or Venture Capital funds
- MBA in Finance, or equivalent, with CFA or CA certification
- Proven leadership and managerial skills with a track record of driving projects and delivering results under pressure
- Deep expertise in financial modelling, valuation methods, and due diligence practices
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and tools like CapIQ, FactSet, and Mergermarket
- Excellent client-facing skills, with the ability to present findings and manage stakeholder relationships
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a sharp understanding of financial trends and market dynamics
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of delivering high-impact reports and presentations
- Ability to multitask and thrive in deadline-driven environments, managing multiple financial workstreams simultaneously
