Role: Assistant Manager - Sourcing & Planning - Seasoning Products
Function: Supply Chain/Planning
Reports to: Head - Planning
Position Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for sourcing execution, commodity planning, and supply assurance for seasoning products, ensuring continuity of supply, cost competitiveness, and inventory discipline. The role will combine hands-on material planning with active tracking of commodity markets, supplier performance, and cross-functional execution for both base business and NPD requirements.
Commodity Sourcing & Market Intelligence:
- Track commodity market movements for key seasoning inputs (spices, blends, flavour systems), including price trends, crop cycles, competitor activity, and geopolitical risks.
- Develop short-term and long-term sourcing strategies aligned to budgeted costs, supply risk mitigation, and business growth plans.
- Support cost forecasting, should-cost analysis, and budget adherence through market data and historical trend analysis.
- Convert demand plans into material sourcing and inventory plans ensuring adherence to manufacturing requirements, inventory norms, and quality SOPs.
- Own seasoning material inventory health, balancing freshness, shelf life, service levels, and working capital.
- Proactively manage risks related to shortages, ageing, slow-moving, and expiry-prone materials.
- Manage supplier performance on OTIF, quality, responsiveness, and commercial adherence.
- Act as the primary interface for vendor queries, concerns, and issue resolution, maintaining strong supplier relationships and GIL's industry reputation.
- Identify and develop alternate suppliers to mitigate dependency and continuity risks.
- Lead cross-functional alignment with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Procurement for raw material readiness during NPD trials and commercial scale-up.
- Ensure timely availability of approved materials for trials, validations, and launches without impacting base supply.
- Prepare and circulate MIS, dashboards, and reports on market movements, sourcing performance, inventory status, and risks.
- Drive structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions for deviations against plan, cost, or service levels.

- NPD material readiness (trials and commercial launches)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Operations / Food Technology
- Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain / Operations preferred
- 4 to 7 years of experience in sourcing, commodity planning, or material planning
- FMCG / Food / Spice / Ingredients / Seasonings exposure strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of SAP (MM / PP) or equivalent ERP systems
