Position Overview

The Specialist Vendor Development (Battery and Motors) will identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for key EV components. The role demands strong technical expertise in battery systems, powertrain components, and EV sourcing strategies, along with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead vendor development activities for Cells, Battery Packs, Battery Child Parts, BMS, Chargers, DC-DC Converters, Motors, MCU, and Transmission systems.

- Develop supplier sourcing strategies based on technical specifications, cost targets, and project timelines.

- Conduct cost estimation, costing reviews, negotiations, and price settlements for EV components.

- Execute sourcing of battery cells including price analysis, RM indexing, and commercial evaluations.

- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical drawings, BMS functionalities, performance curves, and component requirements.

- Evaluate suppliers based on capability, quality systems, capacity, and compliance to automotive standards.

- Drive supplier onboarding through PPAP, APQP, and other manufacturing process approvals.

- Monitor global EV market trends, policy changes, competitive benchmarks, and apply market intelligence to sourcing strategies.

- Ensure supplier compliance with automotive testing standards like AIS, UL, ECER100, and EV component-specific certifications.

- Work closely with suppliers for proto builds, mass production readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Maintain and update sourcing information in SAP (MM module) and PLM systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in EV vendor development, specifically in Battery Systems and Motors.

- Mandatory experience in the Automotive industry.

- Strong working knowledge of SAP MM and PLM tools.

- Experience in powertrain and e-mobility component development.

- Deep understanding of engineering and EV component standards including FUSA, DFMEA, PFMEA, EMI/EMC, AIS, UL, ECER100, etc.

- Technical expertise in Battery Pack manufacturing, BMS hardware/software, Motor/MCU systems, and EV chargers.

- Knowledge of EV component supplier landscape for prototype and mass production.

- Ability to interpret technical drawings, performance curves, and engineering specifications.

- Strong negotiation, costing, and vendor management skills.

- Familiarity with E-components, connectors, contactors, and related hardware.

- Understanding of manufacturing and quality processes such as PPAP, APQP.

- Awareness of global/domestic EV market trends and government policies impacting sourcing and development.
