Location : Bangalore
Experience : 15+ Years
Industry : E-commerce / Lifestyle / Fashion
Function : Supply Chain, Warehousing, Logistics
Desired Qualities:
1. Supply chain & WH operations background: 10 to 15 years' experience in supply chain, warehousing, logistics, or operations, including at least 3 to 4 years in a leadership role spanning multiple stakeholders or business units. Leading Operations means owning both control tower and the on-site warehouse team, so hands-on WH operations experience is essential.
2. Automation/ process simplification: Automation is the key for driving operational efficiency. The person will always need to be in the lookout for opportunities to improve existing processes and bring in simplification/automation. Candidate needs to have background of driving process automation/simplification.
3. Deep Dive: Whenever in doubt, we rely on data, not experience or anecdotes, to guide decisions. Just as important, the candidate should go beyond the headline number and get to the root cause. Candidates who default to restating the general problem when pushed are a red flag. This role reports directly into leadership and must defend specifics, not generalities, in front of the CEO and board.
4. Executive presence: Candidate will represent operations in front of leadership - both internal (CXO, founder) and external (3PL, brand, marketplace). He should be able to drive accountability with stakeholders and resolve bottlenecks independently. He will also need to build business cases for any investment proposals and defend in front of leadership. Since this role reports directly to the CEO with board-level exposure, screen for candidates who have built and defended investment proposals on their own, not just supported someone else's business case.
5. Strategic thinking: Candidate needs to have a structured thought process and an ability to look at the bigger picture. This role sits at the intersection of two very different time horizons: day-to-day operations (inbound, outbound, SLA adherence) and the 6-to-12-month infrastructure roadmap (automation, 3PL versus owned warehouse). Solving today's fires keeps the business running, but without someone also thinking 6 to 12 months out, we will always be reactive and playing the catch-up game, and that gap gets more expensive as we scale. Look for candidates who can talk about both in the same breath, what they fixed on the floor this week and what infrastructure decision they were already working toward, rather than someone who is only ever in reactive mode.
6. Team Management: Candidate needs to have experience of managing and improving team performance. He should be able to build second line of leadership. He should be able to guide the team in right direction and be able to drive ownership and accountability so that they can perform in his/her absence as well.
Key requirements:
1. Tier 1/2 - college pedigree (full-time MBA) is a must
2. Background in e-commerce is a must
3. Candidate with startup/ B2C/ fashion experience in managing multiple marketplaces is preferred
4. Candidates who have set up new warehouses end to end including site selection, layout design, hiring, setting up of processes is a bonus.
5. Direct ownership of vendor, and infrastructure partner relationships, for both 3PL-managed and any owned-facility setup, not just day-to-day coordination with an existing partner is a bonus
