This role involves managing and monitoring interest rate risk within the banking book, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing effective risk measurement methodologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ALM (Asset Liability Management), IRRBB frameworks, and a deep understanding of market risk principles. Key Responsibilities: Interest Rate Risk Management: - Oversee the measurement, monitoring, and reporting of interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB). - Develop and implement methodologies for assessing IRRBB, including Economic Value of Equity (EVE), Net Interest Income (NII), and repricing gap analysis. - Analyze potential impacts of interest rate fluctuations on the bank's balance sheet, profitability, and equity. ALM and Scenario Analysis: - Conduct scenario analysis, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate IRRBB under various market conditions. - Work with the Asset Liability Management (ALM) team to align strategies for managing interest rate risk exposure. - Assess behavioral assumptions for non-maturing deposits, loan prepayments, and other key IRRBB inputs. Model Development and Validation: - Support or lead the development and validation of IRRBB models, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and regulatory guidelines. - Continuously monitor and refine IRRBB models to ensure accuracy and relevance in changing market conditions. - Collaborate with model risk management teams to ensure appropriate model governance. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: - Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and guidelines related to IRRBB, including Basel guidelines. - Prepare regular IRRBB reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, detailing key metrics, exposures, and mitigation strategies. - Monitor regulatory developments and update IRRBB practices to maintain compliance. Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication: - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including treasury, finance, and risk management, to optimize balance sheet strategies in light of interest rate risk. - Present IRRBB findings and risk assessments to senior management, explaining complex risk concepts in clear, actionable terms. Continuous Improvement and Best Practices: - Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in IRRBB management and reporting. - Stay updated on best practices and industry standards related to interest rate risk, market risk, and ALM. Qualifications: - Education : Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, Master's in Finance) or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus. - Experience : 3-5 years of experience in interest rate risk management, ALM, treasury, or market risk roles, preferably in the banking or financial services sector. Technical Skills: - Proficiency in ALM and risk management software (e.g., QRM, BancWare, Oracle ALM), advanced Excel, and familiarity with programming languages like Python or R. - Knowledge: Deep understanding of IRRBB metrics, including EVE, NII, and gap analysis, as well as knowledge of Basel III regulatory requirements for IRRBB. - Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with an ability to communicate complex risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
