Role Overview:
The Head of Talent Acquisition and Onboarding will lead the strategic direction and execution of all talent acquisition and onboarding initiatives for a steel manufacturing company, based in Kolkata. This role is pivotal in attracting, recruiting, and retaining top talent to support the company's ambitious growth plans. The Head of Talent Acquisition and Onboarding collaborates closely with senior leadership, hiring managers, and HR business partners to develop and implement effective talent acquisition strategies, optimize the candidate experience, and ensure a seamless onboarding process for new hires. This role directly impacts the company's ability to build a high-performing workforce and achieve its business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive talent acquisition strategies aligned with the company's business goals to ensure a steady pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Lead and mentor a team of recruiters, providing guidance and support to achieve individual and team objectives, enhancing overall team performance.
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and screening to interviewing and offer negotiation, to ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Oversee campus hiring programs to build relationships with top universities and attract emerging talent, strengthening the company's brand as an employer of choice.
- Manage relationships with external recruitment agencies and vendors to optimize recruitment costs and ensure quality of hire.
- Design and implement a comprehensive onboarding program to integrate new hires into the company culture and accelerate their time to productivity, improving employee retention.
- Track and analyze key talent acquisition metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize recruitment processes, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks and maintaining ethical recruitment practices.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a strategic partner to business heads, plant leaders, and HR teams.
- Provide market intelligence, talent insights, and hiring trends in the steel and mining sector.
Onboarding & Integration:
- Design and implement structured onboarding programs for plant and corporate employees.
- Ensure seamless joining experience and faster productivity ramp-up for new hires.
- Collaborate with HRBP and L&D teams for induction, assimilation, and retention strategies.
Key Requirements:
- 10 - 15 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, with significant exposure to steel, metals, mining, or heavy manufacturing sectors.
- Proven track record in hiring for plant operations, engineering, and leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of industrial workforce dynamics and hiring challenges.
- Experience in managing onboarding and employee integration processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA/PGDM in HR or related field.
- Experience working in large manufacturing setups or multi-plant environments.
