REMI Group - Design Manager - Mechanical - Rotating Equipment

Role Overview:

REMI is seeking a seasoned Design Manager (Mechanical) to lead the design function for rotating equipment. This senior leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise, team management, and customer interaction, with full ownership of the design life cycle.

Domain Expertise:

- Rotating Equipment

- Custom-built Industrial Equipment

- Exposure to Liquid Processing / Mixing Systems (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the design department and drawing office

- Oversee design and development of custom-built rotating and liquid mixing equipment

- Take ownership of end-to-end design activities

- Guide and mentor the design team

- Coordinate with production, projects, and sales teams for design deliverables

- Handle technical interactions with clients and consultants (pre-order discussions & post-order execution support)

- Ensure design quality, timelines, and compliance with requirements

Technical Responsibilities:

- Review enquiry documents and purchase specifications

- Select appropriate models and estimate materials

- Prepare design calculations and General Arrangement Drawings (GAD)

- Review vendor documents and fabrication drawings

- Prepare offers and resolve technical queries

- Conduct site visits when required

Leadership Expectations:

- Prior experience as Head of Department (HOD) or leading a design team

- Ability to manage people and projects simultaneously

- Strong decision-making and ownership mindset

- Hands-on approach: actively solving design challenges

Eligibility Criteria:

- Degree: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

- Strong background in design engineering for rotating equipment

- 15+ years of overall experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

Skills Required:

- Deep understanding of mechanical design principles

- Expertise in custom equipment design

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

- Excellent communication for client-facing roles

- Ability to handle multiple projects under pressure

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- 15+ years of design experience

- 5+ years as HOD / Design Lead

- Hands-on expertise in rotating equipment

- Comfortable with direct customer interaction
