Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Project Finance and Structured Finance team at a leading private sector bank in Mumbai. The role offers an opportunity to work on complex financing structures and marquee transactions across Infrastructure and Allied sectors. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in structuring, evaluating, and executing bespoke financing solutions, while actively contributing to the bank's strategic goals in developing a sector-focused lending portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Structuring & Execution of Financing Solutions:
- Assist in the design, structuring, and execution of customized, non-plain vanilla financing transactions tailored to meet unique client requirements.
- Engage in cash flow-based lending and complex security structuring in sectors like infrastructure, renewable energy, healthcare, logistics, and education.
- Perform in-depth analysis of transaction structures including risk identification, mitigation strategies, and alignment with regulatory norms.
Project Finance Transaction Management:
- Undertake comprehensive project assessments including financial viability analysis, sensitivity/scenario testing, risk allocation, and bankability review.
- Lead or support transactions from deal origination to final disbursement, coordinating across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks and government-backed projects where applicable.
Sectoral Collaboration and Portfolio Development:
- Collaborate with Coverage Teams across India to drive origination efforts and build a high-quality, diversified project and structured finance portfolio.
- Develop sector-specific strategy decks, identifying target clients and emerging opportunities aligned with the bank's growth agenda.
Credit Analysis & Internal Approvals:
- Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums, covering qualitative and quantitative analysis, key risks, financial modelling outputs, and recommendations.
- Present proposals to internal credit committees and respond to queries from Credit, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams.
- Build and maintain robust financial models that incorporate project-specific and macroeconomic variables.
Syndication & Sell-Down Support:
- Support deal syndication and secondary market sell-down by working closely with the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and Loan Syndication teams.
- Assist in preparing marketing presentations, teasers, investor information packs, and engaging with potential lenders/investors to facilitate deal placement.
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management:
- Monitor post-disbursement project performance, track financial and non-financial covenants, and proactively identify early warning signals.
- Support periodic portfolio reviews and assist in formulating corrective action plans, if required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- MBA (Finance), Chartered Accountant (CA), CFA Charterholder, or other equivalent professional qualifications.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in project finance, structured finance, investment banking, or corporate banking with a strong exposure to complex credit structures.
- Prior experience in evaluating and closing infrastructure or sector-focused project finance deals is highly preferred.
- Exposure to syndication/sell-down processes and familiarity with investor requirements and documentation.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and credit assessment capabilities with proficiency in financial modelling, DCF valuation, IRR calculations, and ratio analysis.
- Sound knowledge of structured credit products including term loans, NCDs, structured bonds, securitizations, and hybrid structures.
- Excellent understanding of regulatory frameworks, RBI guidelines, and sector-specific policy landscapes.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation and negotiation abilities.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of working under tight timelines in a dynamic environment.
