About the Role
We are urgently seeking a Regional Business Manager to lead the business development initiatives for our agri-inputs marketplace division. This role involves overseeing sales operations, managing field marketing activities, and building strong relationships with farmers and trade partners. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of the agrochemical sector, be passionate about agriculture, and have a proven record in driving regional growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales performance to meet or exceed annual targets and manage timely payment collections.
- Implement regional business development and sales strategies aligned with company goals.
- Recruit, train, and manage Territory Sales Managers and Field Officers to build a high-performing regional team.
- Monitor and control travel and promotional budgets effectively.
- Ensure adherence to companys sales and business policies across the region.
- Conduct regular market intelligence gathering across territories, including:
- Sales trends
- Competitor activities
- Market potential
- Dealer and farmer feedback
- Maintain and update structured regional profiles, including data on sales, villages, farmers, trade partners, and competitors.
- Identify and nurture key relationships with progressive farmers, local influencers, and agri-input dealers.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee market development activities such as:
- Farmer meetings and field demos
- Promotional events
- Farmer testimonials and success stories
- Ensure optimal use of sales promotion materials including coupons, banners, posters, etc.
- Liaise with Department of Agriculture officials when necessary for regulatory, promotional, or strategic initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience: 6 to 10 years in the agrochemical/agri-inputs industry
Functional Expertise:
- Sales & distribution management
- Customer and dealer relationship management
- Rural/agriculture marketing
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities
- MAB required
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong local market knowledge (language, products, dealer networks)
- Ability to work under ambiguity and deliver consistent performance
- Self-driven with a passion for continuous learning and people development
