



Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional to lead our Business Development and Tendering function for mining operations, with a special focus on Mine Developer & Operator (MDO) projects, mine tendering, and costing. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in identifying business opportunities, evaluating tenders, preparing competitive proposals, and ensuring successful bid submissions aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the mining sector (coal, iron ore, limestone, etc.), especially in MDO and contract mining space.
- Develop strategic partnerships and alliances with public and private sector clients, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers in PSU and private entities like Coal India, SCCL, NLC, NMDC, and others.
- Track upcoming mining projects, auction-based tenders, and policy developments impacting business opportunities.
Tendering & Bid Management:
- Lead the end-to-end process of tender participation including pre-qualification, EOI, RFP, RFQ, and techno-commercial bid submissions.
- Coordinate with internal teams (technical, legal, finance, project execution) for compiling accurate and compliant bids.
- Analyze tender documents and define bid strategy based on project viability, risk, competition, and pricing intelligence.
- Ensure timely submission of tenders, with strict compliance to client requirements and government regulations.
Costing & Commercial Evaluation:
- Prepare detailed project costing, cash flows, and pricing models for mining and MDO projects.
- Conduct cost-benefit analysis and prepare feasibility reports to support bid/no-bid decisions.
- Benchmark costs with industry standards and historical data to maintain competitive pricing.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities and risk mitigation measures for long-term contracts.
Strategy & Leadership:
- Drive growth of the mining business unit through structured BD strategy and proactive market engagement.
- Mentor and lead a small team of BD, commercial, and technical professionals.
- Provide strategic inputs to top management on mining sector trends, competition, and investment opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mining Engineering / Mechanical / Civil or related field. MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum 20 years of experience in mining business development, tendering, project costing, and execution support.
- Proven track record in winning large-scale mining contracts including MDO projects from government and private clients.
- Strong understanding of mining laws, tendering procedures (especially in PSU/government domain), commercial negotiations, and contract management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with business acumen.
Preferred Background:
- Experience with reputed mining contractors or infrastructure companies engaged in large-scale mining/MDO operations.
- Exposure to both coal and non-coal mining sectors.
