About the Role:
We are looking for a person to own transactions end to end from initial evaluation and financial analysis, through on-ground due diligence and credit committee approval, to disbursement, ongoing relationship management and timely collections.
The role carries meaningful independent responsibility. You will be the primary owner of the deals you run, the person who presents them to the Credit Committee, and the person accountable for how that portfolio performs after money goes out of the door.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own assigned transactions end to end from first screening through to disbursement and eventual closure.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis of prospective borrowers: spreading and interpreting financial statements, ratio and trend analysis, cash flow assessment, working capital cycle, debt servicing capacity and repayment ability.
- Develop a genuine understanding of the borrower's business - its industry, competitive position, revenue drivers, customer and supplier concentration, promoter background and key risks.
- Structure transactions appropriately recommending tenor, pricing, security cover, covenants and conditions precedent that reflect the risk assessed.
- Conduct physical due diligence site and factory visits, stock and asset verification, meetings with promoters and key management, and channel checks with customers, suppliers and industry participants.
- Verify the authenticity and consistency of information submitted, including banking conduct, GST and tax filings, bureau reports, litigation checks and reference checks.
- Independently form and articulate a view on the credit including the courage to recommend declining a transaction where the risks warrant it.
- Prepare comprehensive, well-reasoned credit notes and investment memoranda covering business overview, financial analysis, transaction structure, risks and mitigants.
- Present transactions to the Credit Committee, defend the recommendation, and respond to questions with clarity and command over the detail.
- Work with legal counsel and the operations team to ensure documentation accurately reflects the approved terms.
- Ensure all conditions precedent, security creation and charge perfection are completed before disbursement.
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for borrowers post-disbursement, maintaining regular and constructive contact.
- Ensure timely collection of EMIs and other dues; follow up proactively on delays and drive resolution.
- Monitor portfolio health track covenant compliance, periodic financials, banking conduct and early warning signals, and escalate deterioration promptly.
- Guide and review the work of Finance Associates and support their development.
- Contribute to improving underwriting frameworks, credit policy, templates and internal processes.
- Maintain accurate MIS and reporting on the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications and Experience:
- MBA from a Tier 1 institute.
- Minimum 3 years of post-MBA experience, preferably in NBFC/Bank/AIF credit, structured finance, SME or corporate lending, fintech, private credit, investment banking or a comparable role.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in credit underwriting and independent financial analysis. Prior experience presenting to a credit or investment committee is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent command of financial statement analysis able to read a set of accounts and quickly identify what matters and what does not add up.
- Strong business acumen able to understand how a business actually makes money and where it is vulnerable.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication able to write a crisp credit note and present a view persuasively to a senior audience.
- Sound commercial judgement and a demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and comfort operating independently in a lean, fast-moving team.
