Rashmi Metaliks Limited, a flagship company of the Rashmi Group incorporated in 2004, operates a 1.50 MTPA state-of-the-art integrated steel manufacturing facility in West Bengal, India. The company produces key products including pellets, sinter, pig iron, sponge iron, ductile iron pipes, billets, TMT bars, wire rods, and ferro alloys, supported by a 120 MW captive power plant. Position Overview

The Manager - Payroll and Compliance will lead payroll operations and ensure regulatory adherence for all employees at the Kharagpur corporate office and associated facilities. Reporting to the HR Head, this role oversees end-to-end payroll processing, compliance with Indian labor laws, and team management in a manufacturing environment with on-roll and contract workforce. The position demands expertise in handling complex payroll for a large-scale steel producer like Rashmi Metaliks.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, promotions, overtime, deductions, and benefits for on-roll and off-roll employees.

- Ensure full compliance with Indian statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity, maternity benefits, Contract Labour Act, Shops and Establishments Act, and GST filings.

- Manage payroll audits, reconciliations, tax filings, and vendor coordination for payments; prepare reports for management, auditors, and authorities.

- Maintain payroll records, resolve employee queries, and implement process improvements using payroll software.

- Liaise with HR, finance, banks, and external agencies for NPS, fund transfers, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or related field; MBA or postgraduate qualification in HR/Finance preferred; certification in payroll/compliance (e.g., PGDHRM) advantageous.

- 8-12 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in compliance roles, ideally in manufacturing or steel industry in India.

- Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll systems (e.g., ERP software).

Required Skills:

- Proficiency in payroll software, MS Excel, and data analysis for reconciliations and reporting.

- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to handle high-volume transactions with accuracy.

- Strong communication for stakeholder coordination, problem-solving, and team leadership.
