Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's objectives, ensuring optimal sourcing of raw materials, components, and services.
- Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to establish long-term partnerships. Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular assessments to ensure quality and reliability.
- Cost Management: Analyse market trends and pricing to secure the best possible terms. Develop and manage budgets for procurement activities to minimize costs without compromising quality.
- Inventory Control: Collaborate with inventory management teams to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring that production is not disrupted due to material shortages.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and finance teams to understand their needs and provide timely support in material procurement.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on procurement performance, market trends, and budget variances for senior management. Utilize data analysis to inform decision-making.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a Masters degree or relevant certification or Mechanical Engineer / Electrical Engineer is also preferred as they can lead the purchase activities techno-commercially
- Minimum 16 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the steel manufacturing or heavy industry.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of achieving cost savings.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, market analysis, and supplier management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
