
The position will involve identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing strategic partnerships, driving large-scale government and institutional engagements, and creating initiatives that strengthen the organization's presence across government and sports ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
Government Business & Institutional Relations:
- Develop and execute the overall strategy for government business and institutional partnerships.
- Identify new business opportunities across central and state government departments, PSUs, government institutions, and public-sector organizations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior government officials, administrative bodies, government agencies, and institutional stakeholders.
- Develop a strong understanding of government procurement processes, tenders, RFPs, policies, and institutional requirements.
- Lead end-to-end government business development initiatives, from opportunity identification through proposal development, negotiation, and closure.
- Monitor government tenders, projects, schemes, and initiatives relevant to the organization's business objectives.
- Develop strategic proposals, presentations, business cases, and commercial models for government opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely submission of proposals, tenders, and required documentation.
- Manage strategic government accounts and ensure strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Represent the organization in meetings, industry forums, government events, conferences, and institutional discussions.
Sports Affairs & Business Development:
- Develop and execute strategies for expanding the organization's presence in the sports ecosystem.
- Build relationships with sports federations, leagues, associations, clubs, academies, sporting institutions, athletes, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Identify commercial opportunities across sports sponsorships, partnerships, events, infrastructure, programs, and initiatives.
- Develop strategic partnerships with sports bodies and organizations to create new business opportunities.
- Lead negotiations and commercial discussions with sports organizations, sponsors, partners, and institutional stakeholders.
- Explore opportunities involving government-led sports initiatives, sports development programs, and public-private partnerships.
- Develop proposals and business models for sports-related programs and partnerships.
- Track developments, policies, and emerging opportunities within the sports industry.
Business Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop annual and long-term business plans for government and sports verticals.
- Own revenue targets, business pipelines, and strategic growth objectives for the assigned portfolio.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of government and institutional opportunities.
- Evaluate market trends, competitor activities, government initiatives, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional teams across sales, business development, legal, finance, operations, and marketing to execute strategic opportunities.
- Establish business development processes, governance mechanisms, and performance metrics.
- Present business performance, pipeline, forecasts, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
- Develop strategic account plans for key government and institutional clients.
- Identify opportunities for long-term partnerships rather than transactional engagements.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior decision-makers across government and sports ecosystems.
- Engage with CXOs, senior government officials, institutional leaders, sports administrators, and business partners.
- Represent the organization professionally in high-level meetings and negotiations.
- Develop strong networks across government, public-sector, sports, and institutional ecosystems.
- Manage multiple stakeholders and ensure effective communication throughout the business lifecycle.
- Resolve escalations and stakeholder concerns while protecting long-term business relationships.
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- 10 - 12 years of experience in government business, institutional sales, business development, strategic partnerships, public affairs, sports business, or related areas.
- Proven experience managing government or institutional accounts and large-scale business opportunities.
- Strong understanding of government procurement, tenders, RFPs, and institutional sales processes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing strategic partnerships and closing high-value business opportunities.
- Strong understanding of government departments, PSUs, public-sector organizations, and institutional ecosystems.
- Experience in managing senior-level stakeholders and strategic relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in negotiations, contracts, and business planning.
- Experience managing revenue targets, sales pipelines, and business growth initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
Sports Business Experience:
- Experience working with sports federations, leagues, associations, clubs, academies, government sports bodies, or sports-related organizations is highly preferred.
- Understanding of sports sponsorships, partnerships, events, commercial rights, and sports development programs.
- Experience developing strategic sports partnerships and institutional collaborations.
- Strong network within the sports ecosystem would be an advantage.
