Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement:
- Source and purchase high-quality construction materials at the best cost.
- Identify alternative/new products, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and present recommendations to management.
- Negotiate and establish annual rate contracts and vendor agreements.
Vendor & Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Evaluate vendor performance and undertake joint improvement projects.
- Research market trends to identify new suppliers or products.
Inventory & Delivery Management:
- Optimize lot sizes and reduce lead times to control inventory.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to sites and prompt payments to suppliers.
- Transfer excess or dead stock between sites to minimize waste.
Coordination & Reporting:
- Coordinate with multiple project sites, conduct regular site visits, and ensure alignment on procurement needs.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management on procurement performance, costs, and inventory.
- Take timely corrective action to achieve purchasing and cost-saving targets.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements for procurement activities.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and financial reporting.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Procurement Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction materials, sourcing, and supply chain management.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate with vendors to secure favorable terms.
- Project Management: Excellent coordination skills to manage multiple sites and timelines.
- Analytical Abilities: Capable of conducting cost-benefit analysis and market research for procurement decisions.
- Communication & Networking: Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective vendor and internal team collaboration.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with ERP or procurement software and MS Office tools.
- Problem Solving: Ability to identify risks, take corrective actions, and ensure smooth procurement operations.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) in Operations or Supply Chain will be an added advantage
