Role Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Purchase Manager to manage and streamline end-to-end procurement activities for a manufacturing-focused organization. This role is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring uninterrupted availability of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and indirect supplies required for smooth production and operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong negotiation skills, vendor management expertise, and the ability to manage procurement processes efficiently while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and indirect operational supplies in line with production and business requirements.

- Handle sourcing of packaging components such as bottles, jars, labels, cartons, corrugated boxes, caps, pumps, and related materials.

- Identify, evaluate, onboard, and develop reliable suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, consistent quality, and timely material availability.

- Create, review, and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders as per approved requirements from internal stakeholders.

- Coordinate closely with stores, production, planning, and logistics teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent material shortages or excess stock.

- Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers covering pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, contracts, and long-term agreements.

- Track purchase orders, follow up with vendors for timely dispatch, and coordinate logistics to ensure on-time material receipt.

- Conduct vendor comparisons, cost analysis, and rate benchmarking to support informed procurement decisions.

- Maintain and update supplier databases, pricing records, and procurement documentation.

- Coordinate with quality control and quality assurance teams for material approvals, specifications, and quality compliance.

- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and raw material cost fluctuations to identify cost-saving and optimization opportunities.

- Ensure timely GRN closure, invoice verification, documentation accuracy, and support internal or external procurement audits.

- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate records in ERP/MIS systems.

Experience Requirements:

- Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in procurement or purchase functions within a manufacturing, FMCG, cosmetics, personal care, or allied industry.

- Proven experience in sourcing and procurement of packaging materials and raw materials is highly preferred.

- Hands-on exposure to end-to-end procurement processes including vendor development, negotiations, PO management, inventory coordination, and audits.

- Experience working in structured procurement environments with ERP-driven systems is an advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:

- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and commercial decision-making skills.

- Sound understanding of procurement workflows, inventory management, and supply continuity planning.

- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct cost analysis, rate benchmarking, and supplier evaluation.

- High level of attention to detail with strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including production, planning, quality, finance, and logistics.

- Proficiency in MS Excel and hands-on experience with ERP, SAP, or other procurement software.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Educational Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Operations, or a related discipline.

- Postgraduate qualification such as MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Materials Management, or Operations is preferred.

- Additional certifications in procurement, supply chain, or logistics will be considered an advantage.
