Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy & Planning:
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives, production schedules and expansion plans.
- Forecast demand for raw materials, components, and services; develop procurement plans to support production targets (including high-capacity and special application transformers).
Vendor Identification, Evaluation & Management:
- Source, evaluate and qualify vendors/suppliers for raw materials (e.g. core laminations, copper/aluminium, insulation materials, transformer oils), components, services, and subcontractors.
- Establish long-term relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, ensure cost-competitiveness, quality and delivery performance.
- Conduct periodic vendor audits, performance reviews and quality assessments in coordination with QA/R&D teams.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:

Cost Control & Inventory Management:
- Optimize procurement costs without compromising quality - negotiate pricing, payment terms, bulk purchase benefits, etc.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels; implement inventory controls, minimize waste, avoid stockouts or excess.

Coordination & Cross-Function Collaboration:
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, QA, Project Management and Supply-Chain teams to align procurement with manufacturing and project requirements.
- Provide inputs for new product development (e.g. special-application transformers, eco-design transformers) by ensuring availability of necessary materials/components.
- Support export-related procurement processes, compliance requirements, and vendor coordination if applicable.
Risk Management & Supplier Diversity:
- Identify supply-chain risks (single-source dependency, price volatility, supplier reliability) and develop mitigation strategies (alternate vendors, safety stock, long-term agreements).
- Explore and onboard new suppliers domestic and, if required, international to support companys growth, expansion into new segments and markets.
Reporting & Vendor Performance Analytics:
- Maintain procurement dashboards: vendor performance, costs, lead-times, quality issues, supplier audits etc.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on procurement performance, savings, supply-chain risks, and improvement plans.
Sustainability & Compliance Orientation:
- Ensure procurement practices adhere to environmental, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support the companys commitment to eco-friendly transformers and sustainable manufacturing practices through sourcing of appropriate materials.
Candidate Profile / Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, Materials Management, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in procurement / purchase / supply-chain management in heavy electrical equipment / transformer / power equipment / electrical manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of transformer manufacturing requirements: raw materials (core laminations, copper/aluminium, insulation), standards (IEC / IS / BS), quality testing, etc.
- Proven track record of vendor management, cost negotiations, contract management, quality control, timely procurement and supply-chain optimisation.
- Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, safety and quality standards relevant to electrical equipment manufacturing.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
