Role Title: Business Analyst - Dummy Accounts & Suspense Controls

Location: Bangalore

Role Overview:

The Business Analyst will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end governance, analysis, and remediation of dummy accounts, suspense accounts, and trade book controls within an Investment Banking environment. The role requires strong knowledge of front-to-back trade lifecycle, financial controls, and regulatory expectations surrounding data quality, account ownership, and operational risk.


The BA will partner with Front Office, Operations, Finance, Technology, and Risk teams to ensure all suspense and dummy accounts are accurately maintained, monitored, investigated, and resolved in compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Dummy Account Governance & Controls:

- Manage and monitor all dummy/non-client accounts used by Front Office, Operations, and Technology.

- Perform end-to-end analysis to ensure accounts have correct ownership, purpose, and control approvals.

- Conduct periodic review and certification of dummy accounts as per internal controls (SOX, Operational Risk).

- Identify unauthorized dummy accounts and drive remediation, closure, or migration to appropriate structures.

2. Suspense Account Monitoring & Analysis:

- Perform detailed investigation of aged suspense balances, break items, and unallocated transactions.

- Track and resolve breaks by coordinating with Operations, Finance, and Product Control.

- Ensure suspense accounts are correctly mapped, aged items are escalated, and root-cause analysis is completed.

- Prepare management reporting on suspense account KPIs, trends, and control breaches.

3. Trade Book & Trade Block Oversight:

Monitor trade block / trade book setup, usage, and periodic certification.

- Validate book ownership, hierarchies, attributes, client classifications, and regulatory flags (e.g., MiFID, Volcker).

- Support remediation of incorrect trade bookings, mapping issues, and unauthorized book usage.

- Partner with FO & Risk to ensure all trade books comply with governance and reporting standards.

4. End-to-End Process Analysis:

- Conduct full lifecycle reviews of transactions from front-office booking to balance sheet capture.

- Map process flows, identify gaps, propose enhancements, and support control implementation.

- Collaborate with Technology to define business requirements for remediation or automation.

5. Stakeholder & Change Management:

- Act as the liaison between Operations, Finance, Technology, and Control teams.

- Drive strategic initiatives related to account governance, control uplift, and data quality.

- Support UAT testing, system enhancements, and rollout of new policy or control frameworks.

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical & Functional Skills:

- Strong knowledge of Investment Banking trade lifecycle, product types (FX, Equities, Derivatives, Fixed Income).

- Experience with dummy account governance, suspense account reconciliation, and trade booking controls.

- Strong analytical skills including root-cause analysis, data profiling, and break identification.

- Proficiency with Excel, SQL, and data analysis tools (Tableau, PowerBI preferred).

Soft Skills:

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across FO, Ops, Technology, and Risk.

- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality analysis within deadlines.

- Detail-oriented with a strong control mindset.
