The Opportunity: Project Manager
As a Project Manager you will be a pivotal leader responsible for the end-to-end management and delivery of large-scale projects within the retail payments domain. This role demands deep expertise in specific payment technologies and a proven track record of managing complex initiatives from planning through execution. You will be instrumental in driving projects related to UPI Transactions and Card Payments, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex, large-scale projects from initiation to closure, ensuring successful delivery within defined scope, time, and budget.
- Apply extensive knowledge of retail payments, specifically focusing on UPI Transactions and Card Payments (acquiring to onboarding experience), while explicitly excluding cash and cheque-based payment systems.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, Gantt charts, and step-by-step action plans, ensuring robust execution.
- Establish and maintain robust communication frameworks, effectively managing expectations and ensuring successful communication between all project stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and vendors.
- Monitor project budgets and financial plans, manage resources effectively, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proficiently use tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, and other modern project management platforms for planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Demonstrate strong client-facing skills with a preference for direct, in-person client management experience.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency and operational excellence.
Must-Have Skills
- Overall Experience: 12-15 years of prior experience in Project Management.
- Payments Domain Experience: 8+ years of dedicated experience from the payments domain is essential.
- Core Payment Focus: Proven experience with UPI Transactions and Card Payments (including merchant acquiring to onboarding experience).
- Exclusions: No experience with Cash or Cheque-based payment systems, and no NEFT/RTGS payment project experience.
- Project Management Role: Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator, Delivery Specialist, or in a similar project support role.
- End-to-End Project Management: Strong understanding of end-to-end project management, from planning to execution and delivery, particularly for large-scale projects.
- Project Management Tools: Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, and other modern project management platforms.
- Industry Background: Experience working with Banks, Fintech, or Consulting firms.
- Communication: Decent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Client Engagement: Strong client-facing skills, with a preference for direct (non-remote) client management experience.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Professional certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and prior experience working in Agile development environments.
