Job Description :


The Project Head (PH) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic planning and execution of projects to ensure alignment with the organization's business goals.


The PH will plan and supervise a wide range of warehouse, factory and commercial construction projects from start to finish and will be responsible for organizing, directing and overseeing construction procedures and ensure projects are completed on-time, within budget and as per the required standards.


This will include collaborating closely with procurement and contracting and leading the development of detailed project plans, assigning tasks and activities, and coordinating with teams of engineers, architects, developers, contractors and other staff.


The PH has to be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results.

Key responsibilities :

1. Strategy & Planning :

- Work directly with the COO and CDO and other C-level executives to facilitate organisation's short and long-term strategic and financial plans.

- Ensure best-in-class project plans, accurate budget estimates and cost controls for all projects; drive knowledge transfer & best practices across regions Project Management.

- Oversee the execution of projects to meet annual targets.

- Ensure timely execution of projects with adherence to quality, schedule and utilization plans. Manage the cost of project execution within budgeted costs.

2. Operations management & process excellence :

- Responsible for implementation of SOPs, processes and governance mechanisms across Projects function.

- Steer the team across project lifecycle stages via robust industry and functional understanding.

- Oversee project planning & scheduling, budgeting, designing, contracting & procurement, construction, QHSE and PMO for the project.

- Supervise all internal & external teams to deliver progress as per plan.

- Facilitate project mgmt. and coordination across departments and coordinate team responsibilities to meet deadlines and goals.

- Ensure timely identification and resolution of project risks.

- Oversee implementation of latest construction methodologies in collaboration with CDO/ Design / Project team.

- Ensure adoption of critical cost excellence initiatives and value engineering in the project.

- Drive best practice sharing and synergies across regions for Project Management Consultant (PMC), contractors and vendor management.

- Ensure that all projects related activities comply with company policies, standard operating procedures, ethics and local regulations.

3. Stakeholder Management :

- Collaborate in the implementation of digital tools and other key initiatives in the development function.

- Work in tandem with the PMO team to ensure stakeholders are apprised of project progress and risks in a timely and transparent manner.

4. Customer Centricity :

- Supervise best-in-class design development aligned to market expectations and designed as per the required budget.

- Assure all projects meet client quality standards and specifications Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE).

- Oversee implementation of QHSE management plan and policies in line with WOPLs philosophy, contracting HSE conditions, timely identification and resolution of risks Digital Enablement.

- Oversee training and effective implementation of adopted technology tools Culture & Team Management.

- Maximize team satisfaction, utilization and decide on team appraisals.

Educational Requirement :

- Education Requirements: MTech in Foundation or Structural Engineering with BE Civil and experience of 10-15 years in commercial construction, design or engineering is strongly preferred, including a working knowledge of architectural plans, mechanical and building systems, warehousing construction, statutory requirements and fire norms.

- Years of experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management in the construction industry, of which 5+ years should be in managerial capacity. Experience in Companies like L&T, Gammon India, Keller / Bauer or a mix. Also preferred, some experience in PMC / Consultancy in Companies like CES / Mott Macdonald.

Work Experience Requirements :

- Experience of construction in marine / difficult terrains, with saline / clayey / loose soil.

- Has experience in mixed development Commercial / factories / heavy structures like steel plants / power plants / multi storeyed buildings.

- Some experience in dealing with government offices during the tenure of the project.

- Exposed to good practices in Sustainability / EHS and with an eye for process as we will need to go in for Certifications like ISO 9001, 45001.

- Focused, efficient, and results-oriented.

- Strong organizational skills and self-directed work habits.

- Ability to anticipate deadlines.

- Ability to review complex documents, identify key business points, and manage multiple complexities, often with overlapping deadlines.

- Prioritize and plan work activities effectively, resource planning and scheduling.
