Job Description - Project/Program Head
Industry: Plastic Injection Mould Manufacturing - Automotive
Location: Vasai, Mumbai
Reports To: Director
Role Summary
The Program/Project will be responsible for expanding business opportunities in automotive injection moulds, managing OEM/Tier-1 clients, driving revenue growth, and leading strategic business initiatives. The role involves identifying new customers, developing long-term partnerships, understanding technical requirements, and ensuring commercial success of mould development projects.
Key Responsibilities
A. Business Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute business development strategy for domestic and international automotive clients.
- Identify new OEMs, Tier-1 & Tier-2 suppliers for moulds, tooling, and plastic component projects.
- Drive revenue growth, achieve annual sales targets, and expand market share.
- Analyse competitor trends, pricing, and technical capabilities.
B. Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new automotive clients.
- Lead client meetings, plant visits, technical discussions, and commercial negotiations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer requirements and project updates.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction and resolve escalations effectively.
C. Project & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with Tool Room, Design, Estimation, PPC, and Moulding teams for feasibility and project closures.
- Review customer RFQs, drawings, BOMs, mould specifications, and technical requirements.
- Work closely with Design & Tool Room teams to provide accurate commercial proposals.
- Track project progress from RFQ - Design - Manufacturing - Trials - Dispatch.
D. Costing, Estimation & Commercials
- Lead mould costing proposals based on steel grade, machining, design hours, electrodes, process time, etc.
- Prepare commercial quotations, profitability analysis, and pricing strategy.
- Manage payment terms, credit limits, and commercial risk control.
E. Market Development
- Explore opportunities in:
o Automotive plastics
o Interior & exterior trims
o EV parts
o Consumer & industrial plastics (optional expansion)
- Represent the company in exhibitions, trade fairs, and technical events.
F. Leadership & Reporting
- Lead the business development team, set targets, and monitor performance.
- Prepare MIS reports (RFQs, conversions, revenue forecasts, customer pipeline).
- Work closely with management for strategic business planning.
Skills & Competencies Required
- Strong understanding of plastic injection moulds, mould manufacturing cycles, machining, and tooling processes.
- Excellent knowledge of automotive industry standards, RFQ process, and mould development lifecycle.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and technical understanding.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
Qualification & Experience
- B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Tool Engineering (preferred).
- 18-20+ years of experience in Business Development / Sales in Plastic Injection Moulding / Tooling industry.
- Experience with automotive OEM/Tier-1 customer management is essential.
- Proven track record in winning mould projects and achieving revenue targets.
