
Production Manager
Location: Bangalore
Reporting To: Vice President - Operations & Strategy
CTC Range: Standard Budget
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and execution-focused Production Manager to lead end-to-end production operations across premium handwoven textiles, home furnishings, apparel, and cut-and-sew product categories. The role requires strong technical expertise, vendor management capability, and hands-on production planning experience, particularly in managing outsourced production through small and medium-sized stitching units.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with boutique brands, premium lifestyle products, export houses, or decentralized manufacturing ecosystems where quality, craftsmanship, flexibility, and timely execution are critical.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Execution:
- Manage end-to-end production execution across apparel, home furnishing, accessories, and lifestyle product categories.
- Develop and monitor production calendars, capacity plans, and T&A (Time & Action) trackers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Drive production allocation across multiple vendor partners and stitching units.
- Monitor order progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to prevent delays.
- Ensure production capacities are aligned with seasonal launches, replenishment requirements, and business priorities.
Vendor Development & Production Partner Management:
- Build and manage a network of stitching units and manufacturing partners capable of handling small-volume, premium-quality production runs.
- Identify, evaluate, onboard, and develop new vendors across apparel, home textiles, and handcrafted product categories.
- Conduct regular vendor reviews on quality, delivery performance, responsiveness, and compliance.
- Negotiate production capacities, lead times, and commercial terms with external partners.
Technical Production Management:
- Provide technical guidance on garment construction, pattern interpretation, sewing operations, and cut-and-sew manufacturing processes.
- Ensure production feasibility and manufacturability during product development and sampling stages.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain technical specifications, BOMs, measurement standards, and production documentation.
Value Addition Processes:
- Coordinate and monitor value-addition activities such as embroidery, printing, hand embellishments, and surface treatments.
- Ensure consistency of workmanship and adherence to approved quality standards.
Merchandising & Material Readiness:
- Convert approved developments into executable production plans.
- Monitor raw material availability, trims, packaging materials, and production inputs.
- Ensure timely communication of specifications and production requirements to vendor partners.
Quality Management:
- Establish quality checkpoints across all production stages.
- Coordinate inspections and audits with internal and external quality teams.
- Drive reduction in rejections, alterations, and production rework.
- Ensure premium product quality standards are consistently achieved.
Launch & Dispatch Readiness:
- Track SKU-wise production readiness against launch and delivery plans.
- Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, sourcing, and retail teams to ensure smooth product availability.
- Manage priority orders and critical business launches.
Cost & Process Optimization:
- Monitor production consumption against approved norms.
- Improve productivity, material utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Support costing reviews and production feasibility assessments.
- Drive process improvements across outsourced production operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Design, Sourcing, Quality, Warehouse, Finance, and Retail teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Lead production review meetings and provide regular updates on execution status, risks, and mitigation plans.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Experience:
- 8 - 12 years of experience in apparel, home textiles, lifestyle products, or premium handcrafted categories.
- Strong experience managing outsourced production and vendor networks.
- Demonstrated experience working with small stitching units and decentralized manufacturing ecosystems.
- Experience in boutique brands, premium retail, export houses, designer labels, or artisan-led production environments will be preferred.
- Exposure to handcrafted, handwoven, or premium textile products is an added advantage.
