Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Production Head to lead our two-wheeler Refurbishment Unit. In this role, you will own end-to-end production performance - driving daily output, building scalable processes, leading a large shop-floor team, and ensuring every vehicle meets quality standards right the first time. You will also bring a data-driven, Industry 4.0 mindset to modernize how we plan, track, and improve our production operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Target Achievement:
- Lead the refurbishment of two-wheeler vehicles through a structured, process-based production system.
- Own daily, weekly, and monthly production targets, balancing quality, cost, and safety at every stage.
- Monitor plan vs. actual output and drive timely corrective action to close performance gaps.
2. Process Improvement:
- Build and continuously refine scalable, standardized processes for two-wheeler refurbishment.
- Identify and eliminate non-value-adding refurbishment steps to reduce cost and turnaround time.
- Promote a repair-first philosophy to minimize unnecessary parts replacement and material wastage.
3. Team & People Management:
- Lead and manage a large shop-floor workforce, ensuring the right skill mix through structured upskilling and training.
- Build an output-driven, high-performance work culture through motivation and clear goal-setting.
- Drive initiatives to reduce attrition and absenteeism and strengthen employee engagement.
- Design and roll out Rewards & Recognition (R&R) programs to sustain motivation on the floor.
4. Quality Management:
- Instill a "Build it Right First Time" culture to ensure vehicles meet quality standards at the ramp itself.
- Improve first-time-right (straight-pass) rates and drive down QC rejections through root-cause analysis.
- Establish quality checkpoints and audits across the refurbishment process.
5. Industry 4.0 & Digitization:
- Deploy data-driven tools to manage workflow, work-in-progress (WIP), and vehicle history tracking.
- Use analytics to identify wastage, monitor efficiency, and improve overall productivity.
- Champion the adoption of digital and automation tools to modernize shop-floor operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in production management, ideally within automotive, refurbishment, or high-volume manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience building and running standardized, process-based production systems.
- Proven ability to design scalable processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong people leadership skills, with a track record of managing large teams, controlling attrition, and driving engagement.
- Solid grounding in quality management principles, including root-cause analysis and defect reduction.
- Comfort working with data and digital tools to drive Industry 4.0-led production tracking and decision-making.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with a bias for action.
