
Job Purpose:
The Production Head will oversee all plant operations in a plastic recycling facility, ensuring efficient, safe, and sustainable production processes. This role involves managing daily operations, optimizing resources, maintaining product quality, implementing process improvements, and leading a team to achieve production and environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production & Operations Management
- Plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing process of recycled plastic granules/flakes.
- Ensure production targets (quantity, quality, and cost) are achieved within deadlines.
- Monitor machinery performance, material utilization, and process efficiency.
- Supervise shift operations and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
2. Process Optimization & Quality Control
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous process improvement (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Monitor quality parameters of recycled plastic (e.g., MFI, contamination levels, color consistency).
- Work closely with the Quality and R&D teams to meet customer specifications and environmental standards.
3. Resource & Manpower Management
- Lead, train, and motivate the production team to achieve high performance.
- Manage workforce scheduling, shift planning, and skill development.
- Coordinate with maintenance, logistics, procurement, and EHS teams for smooth plant operations.
4. Equipment & Maintenance Oversight
- Ensure timely preventive maintenance of machinery such as shredders, extruders, washing lines, and pelletizers.
- Identify and resolve equipment bottlenecks or breakdowns in coordination with the maintenance department.
5. Safety, Compliance & Sustainability
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Implement waste reduction and energy conservation measures.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental and pollution control norms.
6. Reporting & Budgeting
- Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Monitor production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Participate in annual budgeting and capacity planning exercises.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial / Polymer Engineering (or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum 10-15 years in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in plastic recycling, extrusion, or polymer processing.
Preferred: Experience in managing large-scale recycling or plastic compounding units.
