Purpose of the Role

To lead end-to-end production operations for the new consumer wares manufacturing unit, ensuring safe, stable, and scalable manufacturing from commissioning to steady-state operations.

The role is responsible for building robust shop-floor systems, embedding TPM culture, and delivering cost, quality, delivery, and productivity excellence in a greenfield environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead production readiness and commissioning for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the greenfield facility, including equipment installation, trials, and capacity ramp-up.

- Establish and stabilize production systems, workflows, and layouts, leveraging adjacency to the existing BSL facility for operational synergies.

- Own daily production planning, execution, and adherence to volume, quality, cost, and delivery targets across consumer ware product lines.

- Provide strong hands-on leadership for machine shop, forging, and machining operations, ensuring process capability, tooling effectiveness, and cycle-time optimization.

- Drive TPM implementation across the plant, including autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, focused improvement, and quality maintenance pillars.

- Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, reduce breakdowns, and enhance OEE, MTBF, and MTTR.

- Embed strong shop-floor discipline through 5S, visual management, standard work, and kaizen practices.

- Ensure adherence to safety standards, statutory requirements, and internal governance norms, with a clear focus on zero harm.

- Work closely with quality teams to reduce defects, rework, and customer complaints through root-cause analysis and preventive actions.

Measures of Success

- Production ramp-up achieved as per defined phase-wise timelines

- Sustained improvement in OEE and TPM maturity levels

- Stable, predictable production with minimal operational disruptions

- Reduction in machine downtime, defects, and rework

- Strong shop-floor capability, engagement, and safety performance

Knowledge and Skills Required

- Strong hands-on experience in machine shop operations, forging processes, and machining.

- Proven experience in implementing and sustaining TPM in manufacturing environments.

- Deep understanding of production systems, process capability, and equipment reliability.

- Exposure to greenfield or brownfield manufacturing setups preferred.

Experience & Qualification

- BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering

- 15+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations.

- Prior experience as Production Head or in a senior production leadership role.

- Experience in consumer products manufacturing is an advantage; however, strong depth in machine shop, forging, machining, and TPM is mandatory.
