Experience: 2 - 4 years
Location: Bangalore
Works with: Engineering, AI/LLM team, Data team
Reports to: Founder
Compensation: Competitive market salary + 1-2% ESOPs (based on fit)
This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who:
- Loves equity research but hates the slow, repetitive parts
- Wants to use AI to automate grunt work and focus on insights
- Believes India deserves a serious research platform, not marketing dashboards
- Wants ownership, influence, and the satisfaction of building a research system used by thousands of investors
- Has always felt they could design a better tool than what they use today
What You'll Do:
- Build the research engine behind EQHQ
- Break down how serious investors actually think, model, track, and make decisions.
- Convert this into systems, workflows, and product primitives - screens, dashboards, concall intelligence, sector frameworks, KPI libraries.
- Define user journeys that feel obvious to investors but require strong product clarity underneath.
- Make AI research trustworthy (Your craft is the gatekeeper)
- Rewrite and fix AI-generated outputs: earnings summaries, red-flags, sector scans.
- Build strict accuracy and consistency standards for every metric EQHQ publishes.
- Create evaluation rubrics that detect hallucinations, missing insights, and poor reasoning.
- Train interns and junior analysts to maintain this bar.
- Shape the product with founder + engineering
- Convert workflows and insights into crisp specs and simple interfaces.
- Iterate with engineering + data + LLM teams to ensure outputs are correct, fast, and investor-grade.
- Own the quality of everything that touches the user.
What You Must Already Be Good At:
- Equity Research Craft
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience writing notes, models, concalls, or sector work
- Strong intuition for what is "insightful" vs "obvious"
- Comfort with statements, filings, ratios, business models
- Thinking & Product Sense
- Can break down complex workflows into simple steps
- Writes clearly, structures thoughts well, sees patterns
- Has opinions about great research products (Screener, TIKR, Tijori, Quartr, Bloomberg)
- Exposure to API data, time-series, quant screens
- SQL/Python basics
This Role Is Not For Someone Who:
- Wants a pure PM role without touching financial statements
- Wants to manage vendors, not build product
- Prefers large teams, structure, and predictable roadmaps
- Sees research as a job, not a craft
