
Job Purpose:
The Resin R&D Chemist will be responsible for the research, development, formulation, testing, and improvement of resin-based products for the construction chemicals business. The role will involve working on new product development, improving existing formulations, evaluating raw materials, conducting laboratory trials, and supporting the scale-up and commercialization of products.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Research and Development:
- Develop and formulate new resin-based products as per business and market requirements.
- Work on resin systems such as epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, polyester, and other polymer-based technologies.
- Conduct laboratory trials and experiments for new product development.
- Improve existing formulations to enhance performance, quality, durability, and cost efficiency.
2. Formulation and Testing:
- Develop and optimize product formulations.
- Conduct physical, chemical, and performance testing of raw materials and finished products.
- Analyze test results and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Ensure products meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
3. Raw Material Evaluation:
- Evaluate and qualify new and alternative raw materials.
- Conduct comparative studies to assess the impact of raw materials on product performance.
- Work with suppliers and the Procurement team for technical evaluation and approval of materials.
- Identify opportunities for formulation and raw material cost optimization.
4. Product Improvement and Troubleshooting:
- Investigate product performance and quality-related issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support continuous improvement of existing products and manufacturing processes.
5. Scale-Up and Commercialization:
- Support the transition of formulations from laboratory scale to pilot and commercial production.
- Work closely with Production and Quality teams during plant trials.
- Troubleshoot technical and process-related challenges during scale-up.
- Support new product launches and commercialization activities.
6. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of formulations, laboratory trials, test results, and development activities.
- Assist in preparing product specifications, Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and other technical documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary formulations and technical information.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and company policies.
