A leading global consulting firm is supporting a power-sector client on an AI-enabled procurement transformation initiative spanning generation, transmission and distribution, and renewable energy. The six-month engagement will combine procurement diagnostics, category strategy, value identification, and the design of practical data- and AI-enabled procurement interventions.

As an embedded member of the consulting team, the consultant will help assess procurement opportunities, develop category and sourcing strategies, identify value levers, and translate insights into actionable recommendations. The role will involve working closely with business, procurement, engineering, operations, and technology stakeholders through analysis, interviews, workshops, and client discussions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct procurement diagnostics and identify value-creation opportunities across relevant areas of the power value chain.

- Develop category and sourcing strategies for power-sector equipment and services, including transformers, cables, switchgear, EPC, O&M, and other high-value categories.

- Support supplier and market analysis, tendering, specification optimisation, should-cost / price benchmarking, negotiations, and value tracking.

- Analyse power procurement areas such as electricity sourcing, PPAs, fuel / coal procurement, and related commercial contracting, where relevant.

- Contribute to client workshops and discussions, independently drive analyses, and structure findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

- Support the design of practical data- and AI-enabled interventions to improve procurement effectiveness and value delivery.

Your Background:

- 7 - 15 years of relevant professional experience.

- Engineering or MBA background.

- Strong hands-on experience in power and procurement, ideally across power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy.

- Experience in procurement / category strategy, sourcing strategy, commercial contracting, or related procurement transformation work.

- Strong understanding of power-sector equipment and services, utility operations, commercial models, or power procurement.

- Consulting / strategy experience within the power sector is preferred.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills.

- Experience with digital procurement, analytics, or AI-enabled procurement would be an advantage, but deep power-sector and procurement expertise is the primary requirement.

Contract Duration: 6 months, through February 2027. Travel and accommodation, including hotel and food, can be covered if required.
