Procurement Specialist - Wires & Cables

Role Purpose:

To manage end-to-end procurement activities for wires and cables, ensuring timely availability, cost efficiency, supplier quality, and adherence to company standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage sourcing, purchasing, and order processing for wires and cables.

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers based on quality, price, delivery timelines, and compliance

- Conduct market research to track price trends, new technologies, and alternative materials

- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and long?term agreements with suppliers

- Ensure timely issuance of purchase orders and follow up for on?time delivery

- Verify material specifications, certifications, and technical compliance in coordination with engineering teams

- Maintain vendor performance records and drive supplier improvement plans

- Work closely with project, engineering, finance, and warehouse teams to forecast demand

- Monitor inventory levels and support material planning activities

- Coordinate logistics, shipment tracking, and resolution of supply issues

- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, audit requirements, and documentation standards

- Prepare MIS reports on cost savings, lead times, vendor performance, and procurement status

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Degree in Engineering

- 8+ years of procurement experience (wires and cables)

- Strong knowledge of electrical cable standards (ISI, IEC, OEM specs, etc.)

- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills

- Proficiency in SAP / ERP systems and MS Excel

- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation abilities

- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight timelines
