Position Title: Head Procurement

Division / Department: Procurement

Job Purpose:

- To develop and implement effective purchasing strategies, manage vendor relationships, and optimize the procurement process to support the organizations goals and ensure cost efficiency.

Principal Accountabilities:

- The Head of Procurement is responsible for ensuring timely availability of raw materials, engineering spares, and CAPEX items to maintain uninterrupted production.

- The role involves developing vendor relationships through long-term contracts and alternative sourcing to maintain a cost advantage.

- The incumbent focuses on reducing procurement costs, enhancing profitability, and applying digital tools like SAP to streamline procurement processes.

- Risk management and compliance with environmental, ethical, and industry standards are critical aspects of the role.

- Additionally, the position includes leading and developing the procurement team by identifying training needs, encouraging skill development, and fostering a performance-based culture.

Major Challenges:

- The position faces challenges such as intense competition from domestic and global players, requiring continuous innovation and differentiation, as well as upskilling existing employees to handle higher responsibilities.

Key Decisions:

- The Head of Procurement has authority to shift vendors, identify new sources, and recommend price reductions based on market conditions.
- Approval from superiors is required for budget overruns or high-value purchase orders.

Skills and Knowledge:

Education: BE; MBA or Degree in Costing preferred

Experience: 15-18 years in procurement, commercial management, or related fields

Competencies: Strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost optimization, digital procurement (SAP), leadership, compliance, and risk management
