Job summary :
We are looking for a strategic, driven Procurement Head to spearhead group-level procurement operations across our businesses.
This role will lead sourcing strategy, EXIM operations, and systems integration using SAP ERP, ensuring cost-efficient material flow and seamless supply chain alignment with corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities :
Procurement Strategy & Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the procurement team across all business units.
- Develop procurement strategies that drive cost-efficiency while maintaining ethical and quality standards
- Analyse and forecast market trends for raw materials, components, and services.
- Drive centralized purchasing where feasible to leverage scale and reduce redundancies.
Vendor Development & Evaluation:
- Identify and develop a strong pool of vendors and contractors (domestic and overseas) for both recurring and project-based procurement.
- Build strategic alliances and alternate sourcing strategies to minimize supply risk.
- Implement robust vendor evaluation processes and audit systems to ensure quality and reliability.
- Ensure strict adherence to all statutory, legal, and internal procurement and anti- corruption policies.
Commercial and Contracts management:
- Lead price negotiations of logistics and other vendors, bid analysis, vendor contracts, and agreements.
- Collaborate with commercial, finance, and legal teams to ensure contract compliance, taxation, and regulatory approvals.
- Monitor and control procurement budgets for plant and project operations.
Import & Export Operations:
- Handle all aspects of international procurement, including vendor negotiation, shipping coordination, customs documentation, and clearance.
- Ensure compliance with EXIM policies and norms, LC processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Liaise with clearing agents, freight forwarders, and government authorities for smooth logistics.
Supply Chain Management:
- Ensure alignment with the stores and planning departments to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize stock-outs or overstocking.
- Drive digitization of procurement processes through ERP (SAP / Oddo).
- Ensure procurement data accuracy and compliance with system workflows.
- Drive SOPs and internal controls to ensure compliance, traceability, and accountability.
Qualifications and experience:
- Should have mandatorily completed BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, or Materials Management (preferred)
- More than 15 to 18 years of experience in Procurement and 6 to 8 years of leadership handling large scale, multi-category procurement.
Skills and competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering materials, construction supplies, and industrial procurement.
- Strong understanding of import/export regulations, LC mechanisms, and customs documentation.
- Excellent commercial negotiation, communication skills, contract management, and risk management capabilities.
- High personal and professional integrity, promoting ethical behaviour and fair business practices.
- Project procurement knowledge (civil, mechanical, electrical works, site logistics) is a plus.
- Proactive approach to market shifts and disruptions.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle critical procurement needs during project peaks.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Office, and data analysis tools
