Market Data Procurement Associate

Department: Market Data & Technology

Reports To: VP of Operations

Location: India (Work-from-Office)

Shift Timing: 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM IST

Overall Experience: 4 - 6 years

Employment Type: Full-Time

Designation: Procurement Associate

Role Overview:

We are seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Market Data Procurement Associate to join our Market Data and Technology team. This is an apprentice-style role built for someone who wants to grow into a market data procurement expert by learning directly from the best in the business.

Think of the relationship the way a nurse supports a doctor: you will gather the usage data, entitlement details, invoice history, and renewal timelines that our procurement experts need to walk into a negotiation fully prepared. Your work turns raw vendor and usage information into clean, organized vitals so our subject matter experts can focus their time on the highest-value work: strategy and negotiation. Over time, as you build fluency in the vendor landscape and commercial models, you will take on more direct client and vendor exposure, with a clear path toward owning your own category of vendors and clients.

This role suits someone early in their career who is highly organized, analytical, and eager to learn the mechanics of market data procurement from the ground up. No job should be too big or small for this person.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collect and organize usage data, entitlements, and license inventories ahead of upcoming renewals

- Track renewal dates across client contracts and maintain renewal calendars, flagging upcoming deadlines with enough runway to act

- Prepare renewal briefing packets summarizing usage trends, entitlement gaps, and pricing history for the procurement expert ahead of negotiations

- Reconcile vendor invoices against contract terms and flag discrepancies for review

- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of contracts, entitlements, and access rights in our internal systems

- Support due diligence on new vendor evaluations by gathering pricing benchmarks and vendor documentation

- Use Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) to analyze usage patterns and surface cost-saving or underutilized-license opportunities

- Coordinate with client stakeholders to collect usage reports, access lists, and other renewal-relevant information

- Build working knowledge of key market data vendors (S&P, Bloomberg, Pitchbook, Preqin, ION Group, Gartner, Fitch, Octus/Reorg, and others) and their commercial models

- Shadow senior team members on vendor calls and client meetings, progressively taking on more direct exposure as your skills develop

What You Bring:

Required Qualifications:

- 0 - 6 years of experience, ideally with some exposure to financial services, data/research operations, or another analytical role (internships count)

- Strong Excel skills and comfort organizing, cleaning, and analyzing data

- High attention to detail and follow-through; comfortable juggling many small moving pieces across multiple accounts at once

- Genuine curiosity about market data, financial services, and procurement, with a real desire to learn from experienced negotiators

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional presence for occasional client-facing interactions

- Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage deadlines across competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

- Coursework or interest in finance, economics, or data analytics

Who Will Love This Job:

- Prior experience working with US or UK-based clients in a similar shift.

- Exposure to market data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, S&P, FactSet) or contract lifecycle management tools.

- Experience working with SOP-driven, QC-reviewed operational workflows.

- A sponge: eager to absorb best practices from experienced procurement experts and turn feedback into growth

- A doer: gets the details exactly right so the expert can focus on high-value negotiation

- A team player: reliable, collaborative, and comfortable supporting others' success

- A builder: motivated to grow a long-term career in procurement and eventually lead your own vendor categories
