Position Snapshot:

Function: Projects & Utilities

Location: Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Reporting to: Chief Growth Officer

Direct Reports: Design, Estimation, Contracts, Project Management Office (PMO), and Site Execution

Role Type: Full-time, on-roll

Travel: Frequent travel to project sites across India as required

Role Overview:

The Head Industrial Projects will own end-to-end leadership of the Project division, driving execution of industrial / EPC projects from concept design through commissioning and handover. The incumbent will manage the entire project lifecycle by leading multi-disciplinary teams across Design, Estimation, Contracts, Project Management, and Site Execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and statutory compliance.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for the P&L of the projects vertical, customer satisfaction, vendor and contractor governance, and building organizational capability for scale.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & P&L Ownership

- Own the projects division P&L revenue, gross margin, cash flow, and working-capital outcomes.

- Translate organizational strategy into an annual operating plan for the projects vertical including order book targets, execution milestones, and capability investments.

- Partner with Business Development / Sales leadership to qualify opportunities, shape bids, and convert pipeline to a healthy, executable order book.

- Drive standardization, digitization, and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.

2. Design Team Leadership

- Lead the design team across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and utilities disciplines (or relevant trade mix) to produce buildable, value-engineered designs.

- Ensure timely release of GFC drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, and design submissions to clients and statutory authorities.

- Institutionalize design reviews, constructability checks, value engineering, and lessons-learned feedback loops.

- Govern external design consultants and PMC firms where engaged.

3. Estimation Team Leadership

- Direct preparation of accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and budgetary offers across pre-bid, tendering, and execution phases.

- Maintain and continuously refine the costing database, rate analysis, productivity norms, and benchmarking against market data.

- Approve commercial assumptions, risk loading, contingencies, and final bid pricing in coordination with sales and finance.

- Drive post-award variance analysis between estimated and actual costs to improve future bidding accuracy.

4. Contracts Management

- Lead the contracts team in drafting, negotiating, and administering main contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements (EPC / LSTK / item-rate / cost-plus).

- Manage contractual risk indemnities, liquidated damages, warranties, insurance, bonds, and back-to-back flow-down to vendors.

- Oversee variation orders, extension-of-time claims, dispute resolution, and final account closures.

- Ensure tight contractual governance across procurement, subcontracting, and client billing cycles.

5. Project Management Office (PMO)

- Establish and govern a robust PMO with standardized planning, scheduling (MS Project / Primavera P6), monitoring, and reporting practices.

- Own integrated project schedules, milestone tracking, earned-value management, risk registers, and management dashboards for the leadership team and clients.

- Drive cost control, cash-flow forecasting, change management, and project profitability reviews on a monthly cadence.

- Lead structured project gate reviews from kickoff through commissioning and warranty closure.

6. Site Execution

- Lead site execution teams (Project Managers, Construction Managers, site engineers, QA/QC, EHS, and supervisors) across multiple concurrent project sites.

- Ensure delivery of safe, quality, timely site execution in line with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets.

- Drive a strong EHS culture with zero-harm intent; enforce statutory and client safety requirements.

- Manage subcontractors, manpower deployment, material logistics, and site-level coordination with clients, consultants, and authorities.

- Lead commissioning, snag closure, handover, and post-handover defect liability management.

7. Stakeholder & Client Management

- Serve as the senior point of accountability to clients, consultants, statutory authorities, and key vendors.

- Build long-term client relationships that translate into repeat orders, references, and pipeline strength.

- Represent the organization in steering committee meetings, design reviews, and high-stakes commercial discussions.

8. People & Organization Building

- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing project division; define organizational structure, role charters, and succession plans.

- Set KRAs / KPIs, run performance reviews, and drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and learning.

- Invest in capability building technical certifications, project management training, EHS, and digital tools adoption.

Qualifications:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a reputed institute (mandatory).

- M.Tech in Construction / Structural / Project Engineering or an MBA in Operations / Project Management / General Management (preferred).

- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification (preferred).

Experience:

- 15+ years of overall experience in industrial / EPC / infrastructure project execution, with at least 57 years in a divisional or business-head capacity managing multi-disciplinary teams.

- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of mid to large-scale industrial projects covering design, estimation, contracts, planning, and on-site execution.

- Proven experience leading concurrent project sites with an annual portfolio of significant value (typically INR 200 Cr+ in active execution).

- Experience working with reputed industrial / EPC / construction organizations, capital goods manufacturers, or large project consulting firms.

- Hands-on exposure to greenfield and brownfield industrial projects factory setups, plant expansions, MEP, utilities, structural and civil works.

- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing P&L, contracts, claims, and client negotiations at senior levels.

- Working proficiency in Primavera P6 / MS Project, AutoCAD-based design coordination, ERP for projects (SAP / Oracle / equivalent), and modern PMO tools.
