Process Consultant - Market Data Sourcing - Consulting Firm - Contractual

About the Role:

At Outsized, we match clients in financial services and management consulting to high-quality independent consultants and boutique/specialist firms for the execution of their key projects.

Our client, a leading global research and analytics organisation supporting the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced independent consultant to join a strategic transformation initiative focused on its Market Data Sourcing (MDS) function.

The consultant will play a key role in helping transform the MDS function from a reactive, transaction-based operating model into a strategic business partner. Joining an ongoing transformation programme, you will assess current processes, identify improvement opportunities, and drive initiatives focused on operational efficiency, standardisation, automation, and AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess and baseline the current state of Market Data Sourcing operations, including invoice processing, reconciliation, and inventory management.

- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend opportunities for simplification, standardisation, and automation.

- Drive efficiency improvement initiatives, including the adoption of AI-enabled solutions where appropriate.

- Evaluate the financial implications of reconciliation gaps, accruals, and carried balances, providing recommendations to improve financial controls.

- Support procurement risk management, third-party risk, and data compliance initiatives while ensuring robust audit and control frameworks.

- Partner with key stakeholders to drive the MDS improvement roadmap and deliver measurable operational outcomes.

Your Background:

- 5+ years of relevant experience in Market Data Sourcing (MDS), with strong hands-on functional expertise.

- Prior experience within Banking or Financial Services is essential.

- Strong understanding of financial accounting and cost controlling, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting impacts.

- Experience with procurement risk management, audit and controls, and governance frameworks.

- Demonstrated project management experience leading process improvement and operational transformation initiatives.

- Degree educated.

- Experience within Tier 1 or Tier 2 banks or leading financial services organisations is highly preferred.
