Role Overview:

We are seeking a high-caliber investment professional with a strong understanding of India's alternatives ecosystem, including venture capital, private equity, venture debt, and fund-of-funds strategies. The role involves end-to-end participation in private market transactions, fund evaluation, and portfolio management across asset classes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market & Ecosystem Coverage

- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of India's alternatives landscape (VC, PE, venture debt, FoFs).

Track and analyze key ecosystem participants including:

- Limited Partners (LPs), General Partners (GPs)

- Development Financial Institutions (DFIs)

- Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) managers

- Monitor fundraising trends, capital flows, and emerging investment themes.

2. Investment Lifecycle Management

- Drive end-to-end deal execution:

- Deal origination and pipeline development

- Initial screening and investment thesis formation

- Commercial, financial, and legal due diligence

- Financial modeling, valuation, and structuring

- Documentation, negotiations, and deal closing

- Support portfolio monitoring, performance tracking, and exit planning.

3. Fund & Structure Expertise

Evaluate and structure investments across fund formats and direct deals:

- Strong understanding of AIF categories (Category I, II, III)

Deep familiarity with LP/GP structures including:

- Management fees, carried interest, hurdle rates

- Distribution waterfalls (European vs American)

- Experience with co-investments, side letters, and SPV structures.

4. Instruments & Structuring

- Apply strong working knowledge of private market instruments:

- Equity and structured equity (preferred equity, CCPS, CCDs, convertibles)

- Secondary transactions

Venture debt structures including:

- Warrants, covenants, drawdown structures, repayment schedules

- Design optimal capital structures aligned with risk-return objectives.

5. Stakeholder Management

- Build relationships with fund managers, founders, intermediaries, and institutional investors.

- Support investment committee materials and internal reporting.

- Assist in fundraising and investor communication where required.

Qualifications & Skills:

- MBA / CA / CFA or equivalent qualification preferred

- 5 -10 years of experience in VC, PE, venture debt, FoFs, or investment banking

- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills

- Deep understanding of private market deal structuring and documentation

- Familiarity with Indian regulatory environment (SEBI AIF framework, Companies Act)

- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Attributes:

- Existing network within India's startup and fund ecosystem

- Experience across both direct and fund investments

- Strong commercial judgment and attention to detail

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
