Description: Our client is a boutique asset management company based in GIFT City, offering innovative AIF strategies that connect global capital to Indias multi-decade growth story. Their maiden fund Discovery Fund, a CAT III AIF domiciled in GIFT City Gandhinagar is a Fund of Funds focusing on dynamic asset allocation across market caps, sectors, and themes, combining active and passive fund strategies to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns.

About the Role: They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Officer to join their team in GIFT City, Gandhinagar. The Principal Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting investment management team, trade execution, regulatory liaison, operations etc. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in equity market research, trading and good understanding of fund operations.

Role Requirements: As a Principal Officer in the investment management team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the firms investment decisions and operational activities. The Principal Officer is expected to:

- Conduct detailed bottom-up and top-down research across sectors, themes, and market caps.

- Perform fundamental analysis of sectors and themes, including earnings outlook, valuations, cycle assessment, and macro impact.

- Develop and maintain proprietary valuation frameworks, screeners, and sector dashboards

- Identify tactical and strategic opportunities for asset allocation based on market conditions and macro trends

- Evaluate active and passive funds, including performance attribution, fund strategy assessment, risk metrics, and peer benchmarking.

- Collaborate with the investment team to support fund management activities, including portfolio analysis and optimization

- Execute investment transactions and coordinate with counterparties, such as custodians, fund administrators, and trustees

- Act as a key liaison with IFSCA regulators to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

- Build and nurture relationships with peers and other asset managers with GIFT City

This role offers significant exposure to a broad range of activities across the fund management domain

Key Responsibility:

Investment Research & Analysis:

- Conduct top-down and bottom-up sector, thematic, and market-cap research.

- Evaluate active & passive funds using performance, risk, and strategy assessment.

- Develop proprietary valuation models, screeners, and research dashboards.

- Generate actionable insights for dynamic asset allocation.

Portfolio Support:

- Assist in portfolio construction, rebalancing, and ongoing performance analytics.

- Provide inputs to enhance fund returns through data-driven decision-making.

- Transaction & Operations

- Execute trades and coordinate with custodians, brokers, fund administrators, and trustees.

- Oversee settlements, reconciliations, and accuracy of fund operations.

Regulatory Liaison:

- Liase with IFSCA regulators.

- Ensure adherence to AIF regulations and manage regulatory filings and reporting.

- Investor Relations

- Support onboarding, documentation, and investor communication.

- Prepare concise performance updates, presentations, and respond to investor queries.

Required Skills:

- Understanding of Indian financial markets, including equities and fixed income.

- Strong foundation in fundamental analysis, valuations, and financial modeling.

- Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling and market analysis.

- Solid understanding of fund management, trading, and investment execution.

- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks within GIFT City.

- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating reports and presentations.

- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:

- Bachelors degree in commerce, engineering, Economics.

- Masters degree (MBA/PGDM) in Finance or CA/ CFA/CAIA certification will be an advantage.

Work Experience:

- At least 5 years of relevant experience in fund management, equity research, trading, fund administration, or compliance.

- Experience in regulatory interaction and investor communication preferred
