Position Title: President International Business

Location: Delhi

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer International Business

Function: This role holds end-to-end accountability for the strategic direction, commercial execution, and financial performance of the International Business vertical at PIIPL. It is responsible for delivering on P&L commitments through strong financial ownership, while driving growth via strategic planning, go-to-market execution, and business development across diverse international markets including Africa, Latin America, Russia, and potential expansion markets such as North America, Brazil, and Asia Pacific. The role will oversee branded retail businesses, government tender businesses, and institutional B2B partnerships / strategic customers. It requires deep cross-cultural market understanding, operational leadership, and effective risk management. A key focus of this role is building and leading a high-performing, fit-for-purpose team and fostering close collaboration with internal functionssuch as R&D, Regulatory, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Strategic Marketing, and Finance to enable sustained business growth and long-term value creation.

Work Environment: This role requires extensive travel based on business needs.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Business Development:


- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for the expansion of International Business and achieve sustained growth and business predictability for the vertical.


- Drive business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, evaluating commercial feasibility, and securing strategic partnerships with institutional buyers, distributors, government entities, and other customers based on market.


- Develop robust market entry and go-to-market strategies tailored to geographic / regional dynamics and customer segments.


- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and key stakeholders in focus markets.

Revenue, Profitability, and Market Share Growth:


- Develop annual market-wise revenue, profitability targets aligned with overall business objectives, cascade targets to team members, and drive execution.


- Collaborate with Strategic Marketing on commercial launch of key products in different markets, market research and competitive intelligence initiatives, product portfolio strategy and evolution, brand positioning and marketing strategies.


- Design and implement a robust commercial framework, including product mix priorities, sales targets, and pricing strategies tailored to each market.


- Lead margin enhancement through pricing discipline, product portfolio optimization, and suitable customer mix.


- Drive efficiency in go-to-market models, adapting customer and market coverage strategies to improve cost-to-serve and return on investment.


- Promote sales discipline and forecasting accuracy to improve predictability and planning rigour across markets.


- Track and analyse performance metrics by market, taking corrective actions to address shortfalls and enhance gains from high-performing areas.


- Continuously benchmark market share evolution and take proactive steps to defend and grow share in focus markets.

Operational Management:


- Ensure seamless execution of international business operations, including demand planning, order fulfilment, inventory management, and logistics coordination.


- Collaborate with regulatory, procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely product availability and adherence to quality standards; align on operational KPIs such as service levels, lead times, on time in full order fulfilment with quality product delivery


- Monitor country-level operations to ensure alignment with global policies while adapting to local regulatory and logistical requirements.


- Ensure strong working capital and cash flow management based on focused inventory liquidation and receivables collections.


- Support digital adoption to enhance transparency and scalability in business operations.


- Foster a strong safety, ethics, and performance culture across all country operations.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:


- Ensure that the business strategy and market expansion plans align with regulatory timelines in each market; collaborate with the regulatory team to understand regulatory challenges / changes and where possible anticipate and adjust plans.


- Establish robust operational processes and governance mechanisms to drive consistency, accountability, and compliance with international trade regulations, export-import policies, and industry standards across diverse international markets.


- Anticipate operational risks, including geopolitical, currency, regulatory, logistics, and compliance and develop / implement mitigating actions.


- Work closely with legal, finance, and compliance teams to manage contracts, licensing, and other business agreements.


- Lead or support crisis management efforts in the event of major regulatory or compliance events, coordinating cross-functional response and communication

Leadership & Team Development:


- Build, inspire, and manage diverse teams across markets, ensuring alignment with company goals and PIIPL values.


- Foster a high-performance culture by driving accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement; set clear objectives, performance metrics and regularly review team performance and provide constructive feedback and support for professional growth.


- Organize regular training sessions on international business practices, compliance, and market trends for team members.


- Partner with Human Resources to identify high-potential employees, provide mentorship, and develop succession plans for key positions.


- Facilitate open communication within the team and with other functions to ensure seamless operations and knowledge sharing.

Educational & Training Requirements:


- Graduate/Postgraduate in Agriculture, Business Administration, or Science preferred.


- Additional certifications in international business, sales management, or marketing would be an advantage.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:


- 15+ years of experience in agrochemicals or agricultural inputs, with at least 5 years of experience in international business leadership roles.


- Strong knowledge of international markets, dynamics, trade regulations, and business development strategies.


- Proven experience in multi-country operations with varying go-to-market models (such as branded retail, tender, institutional).


- Strong analytical mindset to drive data-driven decisions, commercial acumen, negotiation and relationship management skills; P&L responsibility experience.


- Effective leadership, cross-cultural management, and collaboration skills.


- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
