Practice Head - Data Engineering

Looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering executive to lead our Client's Data Engineering function.

Responsibilities:

- Provide visionary and hands-on leadership to Data Engineering and Analytics teams, driving the delivery of data products, pipelines, and solutions that power enterprise BI, advanced analytics, and AI/ML initiatives.

- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing data engineering & Analytics teams across technologies and domains.

- Drive competency development, best practices, and thought leadership within the practice

- Partner with business and sales teams to define solution offerings, respond to RFPs, and support pre-sales activities.

- Engage with clients as a trusted advisor to define their data strategy and modernization roadmap

- Drive revenue growth through new solution offerings and partnerships.

- Build and nurture a high-performing, inclusive team through strategic hiring, coaching, and mentoring, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

- Demonstrate proven success in leading distributed teams, driving organizational change, and scaling engineering functions in dynamic environments.

- Lead modernization efforts across data architecture, embracing emerging technologies and evolving engineering practices to future-proof the organization.

- Promote cross-functional collaboration, transparency, and alignment, breaking down silos and driving shared ownership of outcomes.

- Represent the Data Engineering and Analytics function in enterprise forums, advocating for best practices, innovation, and architectural alignment.

Qualifications:

- 20 years of experience in data engineering and architecture, with at least 10 years in leadership or practice management roles

- Strong software/data engineering background, having started as an individual contributor and grown into senior leadership roles

- Proven experience in leading large, distributed teams, managing organizational change, and scaling engineering functions

- Deep understanding of data modeling, data computation frameworks, distributed systems, and big data architectures

- Experience in working with frameworks and automation tools provided by shared services teams

- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner across engineering, product, and business functions

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to represent the function internally and externally

- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
