Power Mech Projects - Head - Operation & Maintenance

Designation: Head O&M

Reporting : Station Head

The Head (O&M) is responsible for providing leadership along with daily oversight, direction and guidance to operations and maintenance within the plant. Assist the Station Head in ensuring achievement of key operating objectives in the areas of employee safety, Unit availability, efficiency, equipment safety and reliability in full compliance with all the parameters, sops and policies and procedures

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:

- Ensure plant availability, reliability and generation as per agreed MoU target within quality norms.

- Ensure plant maintenance as per agreed norms (qualitatively & quantitively) in short term & long term.

- Resource planning for O&M, fuel management, O&E and MTP - manpower, materials and annual contracts.

- Coordinate with regional load dispatch center and commercial department at region for power dispatch.

- Ensure adherence to safety, environment and regulatory norms and compliance with energy conservation norms.

- Provide inputs to business goals and prepare the operation and Maintenance plan for the plant in alignment with the TSPL targets and objectives .

- Resolve escalated technical & non-technical issues, review the plant operations on a regular basis and take corrective action to ensure operations as per plan.

- Ensure SHR / Specific water Consumption / Specific oil consumption , as per designed parameter .

- Lead operational improvements initiatives across sites to enhance operational efficiencies.

- Define teams to execute process improvement projects and review to ensure effective implementation.

- Analyze relevant reports on production, resourcing, productivity etc. and plan corrective action with site heads to remove production bottlenecks.

- Ensure reliable generation as per defined quality norms and standards.

- Ensure the implementation of new initiatives like Performance Monitoring, Materials Management, IT system etc. for the plant to align with business goals.

- Work with HR head to acquire and retain talent by participating in talent management initiatives.

- Ensure team productivity is enhanced through skill development, training and coaching.

- Handle escalated workmen issues and initiate appropriate disciplinary action if needed.

- Implementation of Asset optimization framework/ AO Element , Quality framework & VSAP framework.

- Implementation of integrated quality management system (ISO 9001, ISO14001,ISO45001 ISO 50001).

SPECIAL SKILLS:

- Ability to lead, coach and guide the employees/team during day to day operation & maintenance of Power plant.

- Must have lead & demonstrated technical ability in the operating Thermal Power plant of a similar capacity.

- Must be BE/BTech (Mechanical/Electrical) with 20+ yrs of experience in Power Plant(s).
