Role Summary
The Portfolio Counselor is a senior strategic professional and subject matter expert with deep commercial awareness, responsible for managing relationships and investment portfolios of Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs). This role demands superior communication, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, with significant influence on the businesss investment strategy and performance.
The counselor plays a key role in advancing the company's GPCs mission of delivering superior investment guidance and client servicing to UHNW clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, grow, and manage investment relationships with UHNW clients, demonstrating strong relationship-building credibility.
- Provide market insights, investment advice, and actionable ideas based on deep knowledge of traditional and alternative asset classes.
- Drive new client acquisition by leveraging personal networks and market experience.
- Offer education, investment support, and tactical strategy updates to clients and internal stakeholders, including Relationship Managers (RMs).
- Coordinate execution of customized investment strategies across multiple asset classes, currencies, markets, and jurisdictions.
- Monitor and optimize client portfolios for performance, appropriateness, and emerging opportunities.
- Support development and enhancement of new business initiatives, products, and platforms.
- Maintain high standards of compliance and risk management in line with internal and regulatory policies.
- Uphold internal control standards and support implementation of audit and regulatory recommendations.
Additional Functional Inputs:
- Deliver CIO market updates and house views to RMs.
- Develop comprehensive asset allocation models based on individual client profiles.
- Assess client needs, expectations, and risk tolerance for tailored advisory.
- Identify operational or systemic issues and escalate appropriately.
- Stay informed of competitor products, pricing, and regulatory changes.
- Ensure integrity in all sales and advisory practices.
- Participate in assigned projects, initiatives, or transitions.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in investment advisory, private wealth management, asset management, or institutional investment roles.
- Proven ability to acquire and manage UHNW clients and significant AUM.
- In-depth understanding of wealth planning, portfolio construction, and multi-asset investing.
- Strong grasp of the competitive and regulatory landscape in private banking (onshore/offshore).
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and client-focused mindset.
- High personal and professional integrity, with a strong sense of urgency and sound judgment.
