Role Overview:
As the Plant Manager for our chemical manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, you will serve as the strategic leader responsible for the end-to-end oversight of production operations. You will orchestrate daily manufacturing activities, ensuring seamless coordination between production, quality assurance, supply chain, and maintenance departments to meet aggressive output targets. By fostering a culture of operational excellence, you will directly influence the plants profitability, safety standards, and market competitiveness. You will report to the leadership team and act as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies, ensuring that our facility remains a benchmark for efficiency and compliance in the chemical sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all plant operations to ensure production schedules are met with optimal resource utilization and minimal downtime.
- Implement rigorous process excellence initiatives to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Oversee comprehensive quality control protocols to ensure every batch meets stringent industry standards and client specifications.
- Champion industrial safety programs to maintain a zero-harm workplace and ensure full adherence to environmental and regulatory compliance.
- Manage the annual plant budget, focusing on cost control measures to improve margins without compromising operational integrity.
- Drive the adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles across all shop-floor activities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, providing clear direction to production managers and technical staff to achieve organizational goals.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale chemical manufacturing operations with a focus on scaling production and optimizing throughput.
- Proven ability to lead complex process excellence and TQM projects that result in measurable cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets and implement effective cost control strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of navigating complex stakeholder relationships and fostering a collaborative, high-performance work culture.
- Deep knowledge of local and national regulatory compliance standards within the chemical industry, ensuring the facility operates within legal and safety frameworks.
Education:
- A Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is essential, with a preference for candidates holding an MBA or advanced management certification.
- Ability to thrive in an on-site, fast-paced manufacturing environment, demonstrating resilience and decisive leadership during operational challenges.
- Possess 14 to 20 years of progressive experience in manufacturing leadership roles, specifically within the chemical or process industry.
