Plant Head - Minerals/Refractory/Abrasives Processing Facility Business

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production:

- Oversee end-to-end operations of grinding and ball milling lines, ensuring optimal productivity and minimal downtime.

- Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality benchmarks.

- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

- Coordinate with the quality control team to maintain product consistency and meet customer specifications.

People & Team Management:

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of operators, shift supervisors, and technicians.

- Foster a safety-first, performance-driven culture within the plant.

- Train new hires and upskill existing staff in best practices and new technologies.

Planning & Execution:

- Coordinate raw material intake, in-process handling, and finished goods dispatch with warehouse and logistics teams.

- Work closely with the supply chain and sales teams to align production with demand forecasts.

Equipment & Maintenance:

- Monitor machine health and initiate preventive and corrective maintenance in coordination with engineering teams.

- Drive improvements in equipment uptime, efficiency, and throughput.

Quality & Compliance:

- Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) norms.

- Oversee documentation, compliance, and audits related to plant operations.

Business & Application Understanding:

- Possess strong application knowledge of refractory and abrasive raw materials such as calcined bauxite, brown fused alumina, and other alumina-based products.

- Understand how processed raw materials are used in refractories, ceramics, abrasives, and allied industries, enabling value-based decision-making and customer alignment.

Key Requirements:

Education:

- Bachelors degree in any related field.

- Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in operations/production management would be a plus.

Experience:

- 8-12 years of experience in a minerals, refractory, or abrasives processing facility.

- Proven track record of managing grinding and milling operations.

- Hands-on experience in people management, shift operations, and plant systems.

- Must have Greenfield experience.

Skills:

- Strong technical understanding of refractory and abrasive raw materials.

- Knowledge of industrial automation, production planning, and ERP systems.

- Team leadership, performance management, and interdepartmental coordination.

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
