Job Description:
Position: Plant Head - Manufacturing
Location: Alwar
Role Summary:
The Plant Head - Manufacturing is responsible for overall management of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, optimizing costs, and driving continuous improvement across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Operations:
- Lead and manage end-to-end plant operations including production, engineering, maintenance, utilities, warehousing, and dispatch.
- Ensure achievement of production targets in line with quality, cost, delivery, and safety parameters.
- Implement and monitor production planning, capacity utilization, and resource optimization.
People Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams including production, QA, QC, engineering, and support functions.
- Foster a performance-driven culture with emphasis on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, training, and succession planning.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure strict quality & regulatory compliance
- Coordinate and support regulatory inspections, audits, and customer audits.
- Ensure timely closure of deviations, change controls, and investigations.
Cost & Efficiency Management:
- Drive cost optimization initiatives, yield improvement, and waste reduction.
- Monitor plant budgets, operational expenses, and capital expenditure.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other productivity improvement tools.
Safety, Health & Environment (EHS):
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies, statutory norms, and safety standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the plant with zero-accident mindset.
Strategic & Continuous Improvement:
- Support new product introductions, technology transfers, scale-ups, and validation activities.
- Drive digitalization and automation initiatives within manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with corporate functions on long-term capacity expansion and strategic projects.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Production output and on-time delivery
- Regulatory compliance and audit outcomes
- Cost control and productivity improvement
- Quality metrics (deviations, rejections, recalls)
- Safety performance and people engagement
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy / Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- Master's degree preferred
Experience:
- 15-20+ years of experience in manufacturing preferably in pharmaceutical
- Minimum 3-5 years in a senior leadership role managing a large manufacturing plant
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Deep understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements
- Strategic thinking with operational excellence mindset
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making abilities
