Standard Costing Framework:
- Build and maintain the standard costing framework: BOM validation, routing and activity rates, annual cost roll.
- Monthly variance analysis with genuine causal explanation, across material price, material usage and yield, conversion cost, and absorption.
- Costing for new product development, pack changes, promotional packs and combos, before commitments are made rather than after.
Inventory Valuation and Integrity:
- Valuation of raw material, packing material, work in progress and finished goods, and ownership of the valuation policy.
- Provisioning for slow-moving stock, near-expiry and expired stock, damages and net realisable value. In our category this is a live monthly judgement, not an annual exercise.
- Physical verification programme across our own site, co-manufacturers and third-party warehouses, with shrinkage analysed and explained rather than written off.
Co-manufacturer Financial Control:
- Verification of conversion charges and plant billings against contracted rates.
- Reconciliation of material issued against material consumed and output received, at batch level, against agreed yield and wastage norms.
- Financial control over our material held at third-party sites, including accountability for losses.
Plant Cost Control and Performance:
- Conversion cost per unit as a tracked, owned metric with a defensible trend.
- Utilities, manpower, consumables and overhead control against budget.
- Wastage, rejection and rework analysis, quantified and taken to the people who can act on it.
Capital Expenditure:
- Capitalisation, capital work in progress, and fixed asset register integrity at site.
- Conduct regular physical verification of capex.
Close and Controls:
- Manufacturing month-end close: COGS, GRIR ageing, provisions, plant P&L.
- Control environment at site: goods receipt discipline, material issue authorisation, scrap and rejection controls, segregation of duties, physical access to stock.
- Contribution to process documentation and the Risk Control Matrix for manufacturing and inventory cycles.
