Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Define and lead the strategic roadmap for PhonePe EMI network across issuing banks, NBFCs, and card-based financing channels.
- Lead PhonePes EMI / Affordability / Partner Offers ecosystem by forging partnerships with banks, NBFCs and consumer brands for affordability solutions across online and offline channels. Identify, onboard, and manage brand and financial partners - particularly for Brand EMI & subvention partnerships.
- Set the strategic roadmap to enable EMI offerings on EDC and align internal teams - product, sales, marketing, legal, and tech teams to drive innovations and launch EMI offerings endto-end across merchants.
- Lead negotiations on commercial terms, consumer offers (cashbacks, nocost EMI), exclusive arrangements and comarketing / branding programs.
- Build and sustain longterm strategic alliances and cofunding structures.
- Oversee implementation across technology integration, policy alignment, compliance, merchant onboarding, partner support, and ongoing operational processes.
- Work closely with marketing to define GTM campaigns, partner promotions, and user adoption initiatives.
- Conduct competitive and market trend analysis to advise on new EMI offerings
- Drive revenue and TPV growth via partner activations and expanding merchant categories.
- Monitor partnership performance metrics, business KPIs, and ROI; deliver insights and quarterly reports to leadership.
- Build, mentor, and guide a team of partnership managers and analysts.
- Provide coaching to drive strategic thinking and operational rigor.
Qualifications
- 6 - 10 years in strategic partnerships, business development, with specific exposure to EMI, BNPL, or brand financing ecosystems. Prior experience handling brand OEM or financial institution alliances preferred.
- Deep understanding of EMI constructs - No Cost EMI, Low-cost EMI, Cardless EMI, Bank EMI, Brand EMI, Co-funded offers, PayLater, and related regulatory requirements.
- MBA or equivalent from a reputed institute preferred; finance/engineering backgrounds acceptable.
- Strong negotiation skills, strategic mindset, ability to simplify complex deals, and excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and manage senior-level partners.
- Comfort with metrics, business cases, and financial modeling to measure partnership outcomes.
- Consultative mindset with a customer-first approach in aligning partner goals and value propositions.
- Flexibility to travel extensively for partner engagement.
