Role Overview:

The Controller of Fixed Assets will serve as the primary authority for the lifecycle management of the companys capital assets in Nigeria. This role involves bridging the gap between field operations and corporate finance, ensuring that all physical assets are accurately recorded, verified, and depreciated in compliance with international standards. You will work closely with project managers, site engineers, and the regional finance team to maintain rigorous control over CAPEX investments, ensuring that the companys asset base is optimized for performance and financial reporting accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the end-to-end fixed asset accounting process, ensuring all capital expenditures are accurately capitalized and tracked in accordance with IFRS guidelines.

- Execute comprehensive physical verification programs across various project sites in Nigeria to reconcile physical assets with the SAP FI register.

- Manage the full lifecycle of assets, including acquisition, commissioning, impairment testing, and final disposal, to maintain the integrity of the balance sheet.

- Lead the CAPEX budgeting and monitoring process, providing stakeholders with detailed variance analysis to ensure project costs remain within approved financial limits.

- Implement and maintain robust internal controls over asset movement and documentation to mitigate risks of loss or misreporting.

- Coordinate with external and internal auditors to provide transparent documentation and support for asset-related financial audits.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale fixed asset registers within an ERP environment, specifically utilizing SAP FI modules to drive financial accuracy.

- Strong technical proficiency in IFRS accounting standards, particularly regarding asset capitalization, depreciation methodologies, and impairment assessments.

- Proven ability to lead physical verification exercises in challenging industrial or remote environments, maintaining high levels of accuracy and operational discipline.

- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex asset data into actionable insights for senior management and project stakeholders.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of navigating cross-functional teams and managing relationships with site-based operational staff.

- A professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, or equivalent) is required, supported by 12-22 years of progressive experience in asset management and financial accounting.

- High adaptability to the Nigerian operational landscape, with the resilience to manage on-site requirements while maintaining corporate reporting standards.
