Role Overview:
The Lead - Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) will serve as the primary architect for the company's inorganic growth strategy in the Nigerian market. Operating at the intersection of corporate finance and strategic planning, this role involves identifying high-potential acquisition targets, leading complex negotiations, and overseeing the end-to-end transaction lifecycle. You will work closely with the executive leadership team and external stakeholders, including legal counsel and financial advisors, to ensure that all investments align with the company's long-term value creation objectives. Your work will directly influence the company's market positioning and competitive advantage within the regional energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute comprehensive M&A strategies that align with the company's growth objectives in the Nigerian energy sector.
- Lead rigorous due diligence processes, coordinating with cross-functional teams to identify financial, operational, and legal risks.
- Develop sophisticated financial models and valuation frameworks to assess the viability and potential return on investment for prospective targets.
- Manage end-to-end deal negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and structural alignment with corporate finance goals.
- Oversee post-merger integration efforts to ensure operational synergies are realized and cultural alignment is maintained across newly acquired entities.
- Provide strategic advisory to the Board of Directors regarding market trends, competitive landscape shifts, and potential investment opportunities.
- Ensure strict adherence to local regulatory requirements and legal compliance standards throughout the transaction process.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex M&A transactions, including deal structuring, valuation, and strategic finance, with 18 - 25 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to lead high-stakes negotiations and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investment banks, private equity firms, and legal counsel.
- Exceptional analytical capabilities, with a track record of building robust financial models to support investment decisions.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive consensus across diverse teams.
- Deep understanding of the Nigerian regulatory environment and corporate governance standards relevant to the energy sector.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- A Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a premier institute is preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, on-site environment, demonstrating adaptability to the dynamic requirements of the Nigerian market.
